My son does (and also believes in our Elf on a Shelf)...he will be 11 next month and is in 5th grade. He's a little developmentally behind his peers though. He told me a couple of kids at school don't believe. My sister said he is too old to believe and that I should just tell him the truth. I disagree. Does your 10/11 year old believe?

My 11 year old does/doesn't. He will say that it's the spirit of Santa that gives you the gifts but if you push him he doesn't know how they actually get under the tree. I think he really doesn't believe but he is afraid if he admits it that he will not get anything. It's funny, the closer to Christmas it gets the more he "believes"

My only concern would be the razzing he might get at the hands of his peers who know the truth. But it's a harmless enough thing to still believe in otherwise :goodvibes

Keep the magic alive. I still "believe" in Mickey, but only at WDW ;)

Don't know - Don't Ask!!!

He's got to have an idea that Santa isn't real but we don't want to bring it up - especially since our younger one is 7.

My ds is 10 and figured it out this year. He was very angry...."You lied to me all this time!!", etc. Today we talked about it a little more, and he said it's going to take some getting used to. I reminded him that the holiday is really about being with those you love, and he'll still get the gifts. If he hasn't figured it out, I wouldn't tell him right before Christmas, it will ruin the holiday for him. I'm sure the kids at school talk about it, so he probably has an idea.

My DD finally gave in last Christmas. She was 10. I truly think she knew before, but didn't want to let it go. Either that or her older sister told her not to tell us she knew. The first words out of her mouth after the talk was "Mady said we wouldn't get good gifts if I didn't believe in Santa":rotfl:

My daughter just turned 10 and is in 5th grade- she knows but chooses to play along but I am shocked at how many of her peers still believe in Santa. I figured by 5th grade they would make fun of thekids that still believe but there are more that believe than that don't....my friends 6th grader still believes!!

Due to the nature of his disability, he is pretty much oblivious to any razzing he already gets, so I don't think santa razzing wouldn't phase him

I also have a 2 year old, so the longer he believes, the better!! :goodvibes

That's good to hear!

Last year in 4th grade he did come home and say "Vincent said there is no such thing as santa." I said well who does Vincent think brings all the gift. He said the parents do. I told him that's absurd..I don't have money for all those gifts! Vincent hasn't been invited to any of our parties since :laughing::laughing:

I showed him the Portable North Pole video a couple of weeks ago and he totally believes it (which BTW everyone must do even if you don't have a believer! it's so neat!)

I just wrote a letter from Santa for my co-worker's daughter (who is 14 years old, mind you). My co-worker was afraid her daughter would recognize her handwriting - which is why she wanted me to write it for her. I was happy to do it. But her daughter is 14 and very bright. I'm guessing she's just playing along with her parents because she thinks it makes them happy. But my co-worker thinks her daughter still believes. To each their own. Merry Christmas everyone!

My youngest will be 11 next month and hasn't believed since she was about 8. I am actually surprised that several of her friends still believe being in the 5th grade. We prefer to get into the "spirit" of Christmas instead of the whole Santa thing which I only liked when the kids were real young. I am really not a Scrooge, but I never got into it much as the kids got older - my oldest is an Asperger's kid so he is all about logic and kept asking way too many questions. He was good tho about not telling his sister or any one else who still believed.

DD 10 knows, we've talked about it. But she still likes the idea, so she will get presents from Santa (well, at least one) and a stocking. Most of her peers know and they discuss it at lunch, but they aren't nasty to the kids that don't believe. They do try to convince believers that it isn't true, and there might be a little razzing (mostly among the boys), but not too much.

For DD and I its a running joke now. She'll tell me that I need to let the tooth fairy she left a tooth under her pillow. I'll tell her that the tooth fairy is out of cash until tomorrow so she'll have to wait. She's says to remind the TF to go to her ATM.

My DS11 does not still believe, but DS6 does, so my older son plays along for his brother's sake. Keep Santa alive as long as you can. They are only young once.

I believed until I was 11. So 10 for me was the last Christmas I believed. If I wouldn't have asked my mom when I was 11 I still would have believed.

My 12 year old neice most likely didn't believe last year but she played along. Her father passed away 8 months ago and my sister had a new baby 7 months ago so its been a tough time for her (as well as my sister) Today she said she didn't believe in Santa because he won't be coming this year since Santa was Daddy. My sister did get her and the baby stuff from Santa.

I leave my Christmas lights on outside all night Christmas eve so Santa can find my house - so I still believe!!!

My 11yo told me back in November that he knows Santa isn't real. But that didn't squelch his excitement at watching Santa Tracker and setting out the milk and cookies in the least. He even wrote a letter to Santa that's sitting under the tree. (Missing, however, are all the ****y traps he usually sets up to catch Santa. :rotfl:) Christmas Eve must have some special magic that makes us all believers again. :goodvibes

"If you don't believe you won't receive!!!" My mom still tells us Santa is real. My dad laughs at her and she just says that you have to keep the spirit of Santa alive. She's awesome...I'm 22 and she still does presents from Santa and puts cookies and milk out! I think I stopped believing when I was in 4th or 5th grade, so around 10.

ETA: She STILL will tell me I'm not getting something I want or she doesn't like something I asked for. Then Santa brings it. When I was little I was SURE Santa was real because my mom would NEVER buy me _______. But it was there on Xmas morning from the big man! I feel bad now, but I'd sometimes yell at my mom on Christmas morning and say "SEE MOM!!! YOU'RE MEAN BUT SANTA IS NICE AND GOT ME THIS!!!!!!" LOL

When I was in 5th grade, I definitely knew Santa wasn't real and I can't remember any classmates not knowing the truth.
