Hi
I'm planning on buying into the Disney vacation club. I was wondering if anyone can tell me about the use year month. Does it matter which month you get? Is there pros and cons say between having Feb your use year month compared to say June?
Thanks in advance for your advice :-)
Cathy

1) If you want to go during particular months, it matters.
2) If you don't care when you go, it might not matter that much.

Use Year is the month your points are renewed each year.

If you have to cancel a reservation, you would have to use those points before the end of your use year (or bank them). Use Year could play a role if you have to cancel a reservation on short notice and don't have enough time to use the points before they expire.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the replies.
Right now I'm thinking we would go mostly fall or spring. But that could change as the kids get older.
Rusty what if we wanted to do a Christmas time visit when would be a good month for that?
Thanks again
Cathy

I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer. That being the case, it took me awhile to figure out for the purpose of making a reservation that when my membership points were credited to my account had very little bearing to when I made my reservation. Once my vacation destination is planned, I can make the reservation 11 months from check-out at my home resort or 7 months from check-out at the other DVC resorts. The only problem comes if I have to cancel a trip or borrow points from another use year to support an upcoming trip. Then the issue is as Doc and others have pointed out ...the ability to use or bank the points then comes into play.

I have a use year in June - it is great for June thru December, I don't like it for May because if I can't go I would lose the points. but for March it is still great (if I cancel in March I still have until May to use them).
