My daughter has thrush in her mouth. She's only 8 weeks old but it seems like the medicine given to her has made her a new child. She's happy now. I was just wondering if it was painful. Thanks

I think it is very irritating. Lots of pediatric patients and geriatric patients with thrush do not eat or drink due to the pain.

Glad she's feeling better.

thanks for the info. I am glad she's eating better and happier.

it can, but it's mostly more irritating than anything else. she's too young now, but if it happens later on in life, give popsicles!!! :earboy2:

thanks. my dd#1 had it as an infant, also, but is clear of it now. I will keep popsicles in mind, though.

Yes, how I first knew I had it is that the underside of my tongue was irritated & painful. But that went away ASAP with treatment.

it hurts something awful. I got it last year from one of my medications (Advair) and was in horrible pain. It felt like the roof of my mouth was ripped raw and it felt almost like burning when I drank anything.

glad your dd is feeling better

Got my first case (and hopefully my last!) of thrush this summer from using Advair that I'd been on for several months. Yes, it was very uncomfortable. I couldn't drink enough ice water because my mouth was burning. Fortunately the Mycelex Troche my MD ordered for 10 days cured it. Moral of the story: (even though I did...) ALWAYS, at the very least rinse your mouth good after using your Advair. Glad to hear your little one is better! :flower:

I've been swabbing her mouth pretty well since I found out she has it. She went from not sleeping to taking a 4 hr nap at night (unfortunately, not tonight, though....)thanks for letting me know what it feels like. I wasn't sure if it hurt her or not.

Yes, it hurts. I remember them telling me it didn't hurt my son when he was an infant - but if it was anything like when I get it, it feels like your tongue is sliced to ribbons. We both got it from antibiotics due to a nasty infection when he was born. Ever since then I have been prone to it and have to be careful with my inhalers and also sugar intake.

My now-7yo had it when she was 6 months old. She was very cranky so I assumed it hurt. :guilty:

Hope your little one gets better and better each day! :)
