DS and DD dont' do well sharing a pull out bed. So one in the pull out bed, one in one room and DH and I in the other room. We want to go end of april- end of may (our dates are really flexible)... can we find something for $400 for the week? I saw bunches of windsor hills condos for $500/week but honestly, we dont' need something THAT nice... we'll be driving down and will plan on eating breakfast in the room and packing snacks/lunches for the parks-- and eating dinner in the parks.

Any ideas? Thanks! Ruth

I am not sure about $400 a week. But, you can try bookit.com I see a 2bedroom sunlake resort for $59/nite ($413) and a 3bdrm for $69/night(483). I used the dates 4/24 - 5/1. I would also try booking.com. I find good deals on there too. I know you can probably find a hotel/motel more in the $400 a week price range, but with a little work and persistence, you can find a resort too so you can have a full kitchen. :)

I found a two bedroom two bath condo in Davenport, FL for $408 for the week, including taxes. One of the newer developments too. Just keep looking!

Go to vrbo.com and check in the Kissimmee West area. There is a really nice 2 bedroom/2 bath condo for $60/night in Grand Palms complex. We were going to rent it and then changed our plans. Actually put a deposit down on it. The owner was really great to work with. Answered all questions promptly and refunded our deposit back with no problem when we changed our plans.

If you have any friends that own timeshares, they can look into "getaways" for you. I booked Marriott's Grande Vista for spring break (March 13th to the 20th) for $440 total, including tax, for a two bedroom villa. This was a getaway through Interval International. It was a bit more than we were going to pay per night at the Boardwalk Villas, in a one bedroom!

So... do you have to do the timeshare presentation if you do this? DH would NEVER do that... Thanks for letting me know...

Yes pricing in this range does exist for off season.
You can get a 2 bedroom at Cane Island (just a few years old) for a week in May for about $421 including tax. Only about 5 miles from Disney.

No timeshare presentations, this is not a timeshare property.

Not at all. We have a membership with Interval International (it's one of the large timeshare exchange companies), with our ownership of Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club on Oahu. So, with this membership, you can look for "getaways", which are weeks offered usually for a lot less than normal price. RCI also has these, although we don't belong to RCI. The week is prepaid, but we can put it in someone else's name for about $30 or so. So, if you have a friend that owns a timeshare, you can have them look for you through one of these companies. You have to be an owner to join RCI or II, and pay their fees, which are about $50 or so per year. With Ko Olina, we can only use II, not RCI.

We just lucked out, as it was my kids' spring break, and we had our plane tickets anyway. Most getaways are in more of the off season at places.

We won't get maid service, as you usually don't with a timeshare stay (except the midweek trash and towel service). But, with a washer/dryer, I wash our towels and I keep the place very clean.

I have seen on Marriott Vacation Club's website that they do offer deals through them, some of which do require a timeshare presentation. When we bought Ko Olina, I had wanted to buy for years, by DH was really against it. I loved our Marriott salesperson; we had met her years ago, and my good friends bought from her, so the presentation we went to was really for her and I to sell DH on it! I know we could have saved a bit by buying resale, but felt more comfortable buying from Marriott. If you do go to a presentation, Marriott is usually pretty low key. You just have to say no! I do understand, though, not wanting to waste vacation time on that.
