For those of you who don't know, in the castle introduction to movies from Walt Disney Pictures, it used to say "Walt Disney Pictures," now it only says "Disney."

This bothers me for many reasons, but mainly because Disney is a mammoth corporation that does SO much more than just making movies. This title, to me, implies that.

Another reason is that, it was important to me to have Walt's name there, as he is behind EVERYTHING related to TWDC that we know today.

I've heard this argument a few places. Honestly, it doesn't bother me. Maybe it's because I'm a marketer and I know that GE started as Edison General Electric. And without Thomas Alva Edison we'd have none of the stuff we know and love. But now you just probably know it as GE and that's okay.

But even as a Disney fan I'm okay with it. Disneyland wasn't named "Walt Disneyland," and he built that. Very few people call it Walt Disney World. Most call it Disney. I think this is Disney aligning its brand with its fans so everything is under one Disney umbrella.

If he isn't around to make them, there is little sense in putting his first name on the movie.

I used to love seeing the words "Walt Disney Presents ". I hate that they've taken the words "Walt Disney's" off the movies he was involved with.

The whole point is artful identification. The castle in all it's forms and the name Disney say it all as simply as possible.
