Does the food court at POR stink?

I agree that the POR food court is great. In our recent 6 night stay last month, we had pasta three times and a large pizza that was huge so we shared with some guests at the next table. The culinary staff run a very quick and efficient pasta bar and the toppings are very fresh - loved the artichoke hearts.

And do yourself a favor and get a magic cookie bar. Yum!!

We loved the food court there! The pasta and the salad stations were great, and they were helpful with any special needs we had. DH loved the speciality coffess (on the DDP).

But, it wasn't until I was reading this thread that I remembered the Magic Cookie Bars. That was carb cheat a few times!!

and you will find someone who doesn't like it. disney isn't mega successful because they do things that "stink". one must always go, try for themselves, and form their own opinion.

If one particular aspect to a resort is vital to a guest then finding out others opinions who have more experience is the best way to know if it will meet their expectations. Every resort has a different food court. Some are large and some have very minimal selections. If someone plans to eat frequently at the food court it's important to know that there are many selections and that others have had good food and service. Stinks is a relative terms. One of the best deluxe resorts is the Beach Club but in our experience the quick service food options there stink. There are very few options served and very limited hours. If I was on the QSDP and intended to eat a lot at Beach Club I'd be very disappointed. POR has one of the most extensive food court selections and it was recently renovated making it cleaner in some aspects to us. POR is a great option for QS meals.

*WHAT* specialty coffees?!!! i was just there, and drank the plain ol' cuppa joe! do share (for next year! LOL!)...

we are big food court junkies... as a matter of fact, it's the lack of food courts that have us steering clear of the deluxes... crazy, eh?! and we like the POR fc the best thusfar... although pop runs a close second... CBRs fc is the pits imo and the set up at CSR made us crazy (kids thought it was a buffet!!!) we also like the AS fcs too...

We've stayed at POR 9 times and have always loved the food court! This last trip I bought the turkey dinner twice. It was droolworthy ;) Yall will probably be just fine at POR.

The food court at POR and POP are our favorites. The make your own pasta at POR is very good.

We think the POR food court is great. We often stop there to for breakfast or lunch even when we are staying at another resort. :thumbsup2

We are staying at POR in Oct. for the first time. I've been reading threads saying the fc is no good. We are a family that likes to eat. :cool1: Should I switch to another moderate for a better fc? Linda
you got some bad advice.................

i'm going to have to leave the boards if these inane questions don't stop. why in the world do we take someone's opinion and go with it? pick 1 hotel or 1 ride or 1 attraction or 1 restaurant or 1 food item or 1 policy or 1 procedure and you will find someone who doesn't like it. disney isn't mega successful because they do things that "stink". one must always go, try for themselves, and form their own opinion.
you need a nap....................

Hi OP here, Thank you for all the informative positive reviews. Never stayed at POR but am really excited about going (especially if they have a good fc).

Dalt01, Your post made me laugh. Very funny.

Thanks all, Linda

PS I didn't know "stink" was such a bad word. :rotfl:

We love, love, love the food court at POR!!! We have been known to skip lunch at the parks just to come back to the resort & eat. As so many PPs have mentioned, the make-your-own pasta station is great. On DDP, there are lots of great options for desserts as well. The bakery has a great variety of treats & the hand-dipped ice cream cups/cones/shakes are always yummy!! For snack credits, you can get anything from the bakery or ice cream stations. They also have pre-packaged veggies with ranch or apples with caramel dip, if you're feeling ever-so-slightly more healthy. The breadsticks, which I think more accurately should be called garlic bread, with dipping sauce also count as a snack credit. Lots of great options. If we find ourselves with extra snack credits by mid-trip, we get some large chocolate milks or OJs to keep in fridge in your room to have with your breakfast, if you pack it from home.

POR Rivermill is one of the best FC in WDW.

I'm really going to miss it this trip we will be staying at AKL and Mara doesn't have the variaty that the Rivermill has.

You will love it, don't worry.

I loved the create your own pasta and the fried fish basket (like southernfried fish n'chips-YUM!).

Rivermill is neatly themed also--you can see all the gears for the Red Mill Wheel.

We stayed at POFQ last trip and walked over to POR to eat at the FC because it was so much better.
