...or does it just cover dues on those points you used?

We have an upcoming trip and with all the airline issues and of course Covid, I am just concerned. I get that it covers various things while there, but I just couldn't quite figure out how they would cover a missed stay, since it's points, rather than cash.

Has anyone used this before? Thank you!

It pays the cost of dues. You buy it based on which UY of points are used

If a trip has banked or borrowed points, you pay for more than one UY. But once bought any trips using points from that UY are covered.

So it kinda doesn’t seem worth it, or am i missing something?

It all depends since it have other aspects to it. We don’t buy it because we have 3 UYs and plan our trips so any cancels gives us plenty of time to use up the points.

You have to look at other benefits also. I don’t know about the DVC insurance but I saw a post where a woman had to extend her trip a week because her son had a severe ear infection and couldn’t fly. Insurance may help in that situation.

We typically buy it for when we have trips planned in the winter months. Coming from the NorthEast, we never know when our airport may be shut down due to weather and would hate to miss our trip because of that. At least this way I'd get the fees back and possibly be able to use that for another trip later.
