Do the rides and attractions close before Illuminations starts? What time slot would TT stop taking passengers? See more below

The ride will close at 9:00 PM. So yes it will run during illuminations if they are people still in the queue which their always are. One to notice is the wait time may be inflated and it could be quicker. I worked at both Mission space and SSE and we would take guests right up until 9.

We would like to ride TT when it is dusk/dark outside. During our visit to Epcot the sunset is about 8:45 pm. If we arrive at the ride about 8:30ish, would be still be able to make it to world show case for illuminations at 9 pm? Would it be a better to book Illuminations FP ? This day is going to be our second day at Epcot. Our plan was to rope drop TT then FP it at 9:30, do soarin, lunch and back to our resort. We then would return around 7:30 for the plans mentioned above. Thoughts?

I would say no. It is highly unlikely that TT will be a walk on at that point. You would probably need to pick one or the other.

Nope.

Getting a fastpass for IllumiNations would make it worse. With FP, you need to be there about 45 minutes before in order to get a decent view. Without fastpass, you can find a decent spot around 15 minutes before, but that's still not going to give you enough time. Plan on test track taking at least 45 minutes.

Probably not- as mentioned above, you’ll need to be there earlier for the Illuminations FP and even if you didn’t get a FP and got there right at 9, to get off TT that quickly would mean you’d have to have a TT FP or do single rider and even then, it’s definitely not guaranteed you’d get off in time.
