If so, can you book it online or do you have to call?

I would like to know this too. I think I read on SW somewhere that the discount comes off the normal fare not the special fares. So it may be cheaper to just look for one of their discounted fares. They offer them all the time.:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

arnt kids under 2 normally free :confused3 .... i took my son free last year

If the child is under two they can fly for free but they will have sit on your lap. If no one sits in the seat next to you then the child can sit there. Not sure about 50% off but I seem to recall the answer is no. You would have to call for any special child fares though, they don't book those online. I would give SWA a call, it can't hurt.

I just called SW to see what it would cost for him a seat and it was over $400.00 so we will be holding him.

I've always been against this, but I didn't get DD's ticket yet (long story about who was paying for it) and now the fare has gone up. So, I'm hoping to get a seat for her. Maybe if DS sits in the window, I sit in the aisle, no one will want to sit in between us? :lmao:

You get 50% off the full price (usually called the Refundable Fare) which most of the time is no bargain. It is usually cheaper to just book the child a seat using the same discounted fares you got when you booked. Yes you do have to book that on the phone, not online.

If the flights are not full and your child does not have a ticket then you can put your car seat in the extra seat as long as it is an FAA approved car seat. If there is no room then they will gate check the seat for you and you will get it back as soon as you deplane.

Remember that your stroller and car seats do not count as carry on items. Even an infant in arms is allowed their own carry on (usually a diaper bag) without a purchased ticket.

BE SURE to bring your child's birth certificate to the airport to prove her age. We were almost not allowed to board because we did not bring DS' birth certificate on our last flights even though he wasn't even a year old yet.
