and also at MCO? Is there a way to find out. I did a search on Southwest but couldn't find the answer.

Does it work the same as Jetblue and Delta where you unload your car, head to the curbside check in desk, give your license and they print out your boarding passes for you and take your luggage for you and you tip them and then just head to the gate?

I've never flown Southwest before (or out of PVD) and we're heading out in one week. No DH this trip so I want to be prepared for what to expect. I have never done a kiosk either so woudn't know how to handle that!

I know I should check in online 24 hours before so that I can hopefully get A boarding passes so that I can sit with my two girls.

Any other first-timer advice for a newbie??

Thank you very much!

Actually, it is on the SW website. The only ones that don't have curbside have an asterix beside it.
Anyway, in answer to your questions, yes, both locations have curbside checkin.
It works the same as any other airline. You will already have your boarding passes, assuming you printed them at home. They will look at those and your ID and take care of your luggage.
It is very very easy.
Hope this helps. :)

We're flying JetBlue for the first time out of Logan next week and am planning on doing curbside check-in. How much do you generally tip for the bags? (We'll probably have 4 to check.)

Have a great trip OP! :wizard:

Thanks!

We usually tip $1 per bag but if I have 4 bags, I just give him a $5. Jetblue is great! Have a great trip!

I hope Southwest curbside is just as easy as Jetblue/Delta. I thought I read somewhere I had to do kiosk and I thought I read on another thread that even if you do curbside with Southwest, you still have to go inside and watch them scan/check your luggage. Maybe I misunderstood. But that thread (I found in a curbside search) was a year old as well.

You can do curbside checkin at Green Airport (sorry, I just can't call it Providence because it's really in Warwick!) Southwest is located at the last entrance on the departures level of the roadway - just before the parking garages.

I wouldn't wait to get boarding passes at the airport, on arrival or departure. Print them from home or your resort 24-hours before departure to ensure you get an "A" boarding pass.

Nope you don't have to do anything if you use the skycap. It will be just like any other time you use a skycap.

Thanks, everyone.

So I was going to check in online at home 24 hours before and print my boarding passes and then do curbside check in so they can handle my luggage (I'll have no DH and two little ones).

Then coming home (MCO) I was going to have my DH check me in 24 hours before from his work and then I'd do curbside check in and have the skycap print my boarding passes; is this possible? Or do I have to print them before I get to the airport? Or do I have to use a kiosk or something?

Sorry for so many, probably dumb, questions but I'm on my own and it's a new experience so I just want to make sure I have it right.

Thanks again, very much for your help!

Hi,
The skycap can print them for you on your return OR>>>>>you can get them printed at your resort. The front desk will check in for you.

By the way, this is where you find out about curbside. Read the very top of the page. :)

Hi, This is TRUE! I think it is a little odd too. But we flew out of TFGreen at the end of July, and yes- after CURB SIDE check-in, you go right inside and literally watch your luggage go thru an X-ray machine. If they have a PROBLEM they will call out your name and tell you that they are going to open your luggage. You will have to wait while they do this and until all of your luggage has been cleared. We usually have between 8-10 pieces and at least one gets opened, but it has always been fine. It is a small airport so everything is VERY close together and this only takes and extra 5-10 minutes. Thank you! That is what I thought I read!! Now I know I'm not going crazy!

That's strange. I wonder why they do it but not Jetblue or other airlines; or maybe its that airport that does it and not Logan? I don't know since this is two firsts for me; first time flying Southwest and first time fly out of TF Green.

Anyway, I'm just glad I know this so I'm prepared. I should only have one suitcase so I'm not too worried.

Thanks again for clearing that up for me.

TF Green is so easy after flying out of Logan - you'll never want to go back to Boston again!! It's been awhile since I've checked luggage at PVD, but will also be using curb-side for my 1 bag next Friday. I still plan on getting there 1.5 hours early even though I've heard that security is a breeze now with all the checked luggage, but I'm not taking any chances. Want to be in line early - hopefully with an A pass!!!

Will send you a PM mid-week!!!

I've been to TF Green, but only flying in when we were stuck in Florida due to weather and no flights to boston were to be had. It did seem very easy to figure out. I just wanted to iron out all of my concerns.

Yes, I'm going to be there by 6:30a at the latest. How long do you think it will take to get there from here? An hour? 45 minutes?

Hopefully we'll have A boarding pass too!

Talk to you soon!

I've done it from Millis in as little as 40 minutes, but am allowing a hour just in case of some idiots on 95. If I'm heading down during daytime hours I usually take 295 to avoid Providence.

Actually, we've only taken 295 to/from TF Green and the Warwick area. That's probably the way we'll go Friday.

I can't believe how close this trip is!!

As I recall back in May when we went, at curbside checkin at Green, the scanning machines for the luggage were right outside. You drop off your luggage on the sidewalk and a rep comes over and gets a boarding pass from one of you. He took our luggage and made us wait there until our bags went through the machines. Then he said we were all set and we went in. It was simple. PVD is the way to go. Logan will never see me again!!! Have a great trip !!!

I live only 20 minutes from TF Green, so we only fly out from there.

YES>> the do indeed have curb side check in.

Last June, it took us only 15 minutes from the time we got there, check in our luggage, go through security to our gate!!

(which is very good, because the line at Dunkin Donuts took 30 minutes itself!) :rotfl:

THat is the great thing about Southwest - online check in and boarding passes - it makes it so easy! :thumbsup2
