Does MS require a CC# when making a reservation?

I know that when I have made reservations in the past; I have not been asked for a CC#. We are in the process of waiting for ROFR on an add-on @ VWL thru the TSS; and we are traveling to WDW in May; I was interested in renting a reservation for the time we are there- to check it out etc. I figured that It would be nice to stay there instead of the POLY as we're waiting for ROFR and closing etc; it would be fun! Well the person I was thinking of dealing with via email said she would need my CC#, experation, and code. I replied that I would submit the names, ages and contact info to her; but I was uncomfortable giving her a CC# etc via email and I asked why she would need it? She replied that MS would ask her for the info so she would use hers? Just funny; and I haven't heard from her since. And, I did run her name thru the OC website and it's there. So? IDK....

We have been members since 1993 and I have never been asked for a CC#.
There would be no reason. I called MS today. No mention of CC#, just the usual last 4 digits of soc. sec. number for member verification.

Exactly what I thought; I didn't mention we were owners as I have done my transferring for the year- I really thought this was weird; and it made me nervous.

Trust your instincts as it does sound odd, especially if they are asking for the three digit verification code.

No way would I ever give someone that information. Follow your gut feeling.

Thanks guys! And this was from a thread on the rent/trade board and I wish I knew if/could make the others aware. Thanks!

We have never been asked for credit card when making a DVC reservation, only at check-in if we wanted to have charging privileges and express checkout.

Sounds like someone is out to scam some people:mad: I would PM the others if I were you and tell them that kind of info is not needed and point them in the direction of this thread.

I did pm the others interested in her points; and directed them to this thread. I have also been in contact with a moderator here. Hopefully this can all be put to right before it ends up badly for some family! Thanks all!

Thats great that you did that, I just cannot believe anyone would ever ever ask for someone elses CC # and not be wanting to do something else with it:rolleyes: .

Thanks for practicing "buyer beware" and also for outing the individual to the mods and other responders so no one gets burned on the rent/trade board. Kudos!!:thumbsup2

i am glad to see you took steps to not only protect yourself but other people who were thinking or renting from this member, its nice to see people still care about other people and that member should be kicked out of here for good for trying something like that, but kudos to you :thumbsup2

The only time MS asked me for a credit card was when making a cash night reservation. I don't think they asked for the code.

I contacted the same person and also was asked for cc and the code on back. Why she would need my cc info if she wanted to be payed by paypal ?
I have rented before and have never been asked for cc. I am a pretty trusting person but that sent up some red flags for me. Plus my husband would kill me if I ever sent that info via e-mail.

Inquireing minds want to know. Has anyone actually rented from this person and gotten back from their trip with any issues? Is this someone who has rented before?
