Does Main Street ever open before the park?

I know I've read somewhere about being able to shop on Main Street sometimes an hour before the park officially opens. Is this true?

I believe, if the park opens at 9:00 AM or later and does not have Magic Morning, Main Street will usually open 30 minutes before the park. There will be a rope at the end of Main Street before the Plaza.

so next friday 10/10, the park is scheduled to open at 8am (no MM)...so does that mean main street may open around 7:30am? that would be nice if it did...

I am not sure what the reason for it is, but I go to DL alot and sometimes mainstreet is open and some times its not. If it is, as posted before, there is a velvet rope at the end of mainstreet. I have been there times where I have had to wait outside the gates for DL to open and there have been sometimes where I have waited at the rope. Like I said, I don't know why. You should call Disney and ask.

Same here. Sometimes we have had to wait outside the gates until park opening and others they let everyone on main street. Of course we usually use our MM but we see people lined up to the rope. Isn't mainstreet open an hour later after park close?

When I went to visit Disneyland in the latter part of August, the first morning before the park officially opened, Main street was open for all park visitors, now the next day, which was a MM, it was not, but then, apparently MM, did not happen that morning after all, hence lines of people lining up at the gates. A person working security told me that some one forgot to allow MM visitors into the park, and I don't believe that he was joking, either, I can only imagine how many people were not happy campers at that time.
