Does it help to make room requests? SSR?

this will be our first time staying on our points... we were just curious if it helps to make room requests?

So, if they do help, where would you make them for SSR?

We usually get some of our requests.

At SSR we really like the congress park section so we can walk to Downtown Disney. We also prefer a ground floor room at SSR.

We aren't 'requesters' HAHA The only time we've made requests is at Old Key West and Saratoga Springs - at resorts that large, you have to have some idea as to where you will call home during your stay - I would hate to be stuck on the FAR end of any resort, let along Saratoga or OKW!

We request Hospitality House at OKW - just because we haven't ventured out to any of the other locations LOL BUT, we do really enjoy the views around Hospitality house, and we really like being close to the dock to DTD - in addition, the main pool is great, and we were once located on the waterway where we could watch a family of river otters play, tumble, swim, and roll around - that was enough for me, I didn't even need to go in to the parks! HAHA I love wildlife!

Our first DVC stay ever was at SSR - we requested Congress Park with a view of Downtown Disney - We were given both.... you had to lean over the balcony and look to the left.... but we could indeed SEE Downtown Disney!

As best as possible they honor location requests - we aren't so picky, but perhaps we should be....

Eh, not - it's just not how we roll! HAHA We like a bit of an element of surprise and it's one less thing to ever be disappointed about!

We ask for a view of Cinderella Castle on our honeymoon - we stayed at Wilderness Lodge. The view ended up being Cinderella's Castle through the trees.... and dumpsters and a sewage pond right below us in the utility access area! HAHA As long as we didn't look down, we weren't disappointed!

We have stayed at SSr the last 2 years. First year we stayed in Congress Park with a view of DTD. Last year we requested the Springs to be close enough the the main pool area and the new pool over at the Paddock area so the kids didn't have to walk to far. Only problem with being in the Springs is its the last bus stop. We usually go in Feb. and its not a problem with crowded buses but I have read that during busy times of the year, the buses are very crowded and since the Springs is the last stop, it may not be ideal.

The 1st 2 times we stayed at SSR without requests, landed us both times, in the Carousel area. I do not care for that area, even with the new Paddock Pool, it's far, from the boat, the restaurants and each time my balcony view was of the street and the guard gate, dismal!

The following 3 times I made requests for Congress Park, DTD view and got them all 3 times!

It never hurts to make a simple request!

SSR is our home resort and have stayed there numerous times, each time getting what we requested. Keep in mind you won't be able to request specific rooms or even buildings, but you can request things like "Congress Park, Downtown Disney view, close to bus stop".

We have stayed at SSR, once, and I did request Congress Park with a DTD view that we were granted. It was great because we also had the top floor so our room looked out towards DTD West side. It was so nice to see the lights from DTD at night and it was an easy walk there, plus it was right across the way from the bus stop. DH and I already said that when we stay there again, we want to request the Paddocks section so we can be closer to the new Paddock's pool. I love to request sections and different views when I am planning my trips...however, OP remember that a request is just a request and it is not guaranteed. Except whenever I request something I have gotten them. Oh yeah, if you do do a request, don't request a million things, instead request the most important and put them in order of what is most important to you. For example, if your priority is to be closest to the main building, request that first with another request of your choice. This will help the room assigner out a lot. Have a great trip .

We have never made a request for a specific area and just take what we get. But it's getting old......Millers Rd at OKW every time! I would like to request the Pennisular Rd area (across the bridge from the boat landing). How do you make requests and when?

I have made requests at the time I make the reservation by telephone, made them by calling and adding my request to a reservation, or you can simply do it if you check-in online.

Buildings 23 to 26 are "near HH category". The other Penninsular Road buildings are 27 to 29. I had 28 and it was a crappy view, basically very close trees. The trees made the room dark. 29 looked even worse, the trees were actually touching the balcony.
