Hi all,

We are staying in the Grand Californian for the first time and are very excited!

Our first, or what will prove to be many, question is: Do the rooms have those little coffee makers in them. We stay at the Disney hotel recently and noted that they did not...

Trying to save money where we can ... we thought we would ask!!!

Also, any opinions from anyone who has stayed there before? Thanks all!

When we stayed there they did. Also when you stay at the DL hotel all you have to do is ask for them and they will have housekeeping bring them to your room.:thumbsup2

GCH is one of my favorite hotels. and I have stayed there many times. I am sure you will receive many responses, so I will just say a few minor things. First, every night you will get an announcement sheet, explaining all the things happen for hotel guest for the next day. Take a look at the activities and try to do one. I would suggest the Hotel tour and the power walk in the morning. I happen to be a big fan of the power walk because it is usually held inside California Adventures before they open. The power walk to for GCH guests only. I also like to listen to the fireside storytelling held in the evening.

When are you going?

We are arriving on Sunday through Wednesday. We bought the So Cal. $99 passes and plan on using them two days - Mon/Tues and save the third day for September (within 45 days, of course)

Thanks for the great advise. I did see the morning power walk... how fun. Depending on how tired I am Tues. I want to give it a try.

My husband wants to know... is there wireless internet available or internet in the rooms? Also does it cost?

I heard they have refrigerators but they are stocked full on goodies to buy. Is there any room for our own stuff?

See.... I knew I would have more questions!!!

They do have free internet in the rooms, but you have to plug it in. I tried it for the 1st time a couple of weeks ago & it worked fantastically.
The mini fridges don't have snacks in there to buy, those were the old ones. Now there is plenty of room (for a mini fridge) to hold drinks & snacks.

There is Internet, but it's not free. It's included in the $13.80/night resort fee that you pay :thumbsup2

The internet is wireless or wired, whichever you choose. It didn't cost extra, it's included in your cost for the room.

We were just there a couple of weeks ago and I used my laptop in the room without plugging it in and got the wireless internet service.

There are coffee makers in the room.

The fridges used to be stocked with things to buy, but now they are empty for you to put your things into. There is no freezer in the fridge.

Ok, snacks are packed (almonds and banana chips), cereal packed (for those early morning dashes), tickets bought (3 days for $99), and packing has begun (OK, I'm not that organized yet!) :woohoo:

I have ripped out the Disney plan from the Unofficial Disneyland guide as well as Hydroguy's tips for getting the most out of fastpass (thanks, Hydroguy!). Got the GCH reservation (Thanks, DVC!) and the car is gassed up reading to drive the 99 miles (I love that we are less than 100 miles to the happiest place on earth!):lovestruc

Tomorrow's plan is to get to the hotel about noon. Fingers crossed we can check in...if not, it's off the pool for the afternoon. In the night we going to look for the Anaheim Walk (anyone been there?) for dinner. Hope to watch the fireworks from Downtown Disney or our hotel (any suggestions for outside the park viewing?):wizard:

Monday morning we are getting up early to head to the DL park at opening... it's not a magical morning or whatever they are calling it these days but... still want to get started early. Want to pop over to Soarin' as many times as we can during the trip... I LOVE that ride. We have 5 pm ressies at Blue Bayou for just the DH and I while the kids ride more rides!!

The weather is looking great! Not too hot, not too cool. Tonight will not be an easy sleep... I am SO like the Disney commercial ..."I'm too excited to sleep."

We are taking the laptop... I am expecting to be too tired to post during but.. who knows....

i'll post later with how the packing is going....

PS Happy 40th Woodstock anniversary:hippie:
