Does everyone check in on Sunday and check out on Thursday?

On our next trip in June we will arrive on Friday afternoon and check in at AKL for 2 day's.
On Sunday we move over to BWV 2 bedroom that we have until Friday.
At that point we will move over to the CR for 2 day's and leave on Sunday afternoon.

These boards got me thinking this way. Annual Pass with room discounts and we always wanted tho check out the other resorts. :teeth:

We are only 2 people so it isn't that bad to move, we just have one smaller bag that covers are needs for the first and last 2 day's.

Because of the addvice on these boards I have went from one week a year to 2 visits a year and know have 3 trips booked this year!

We travel weekday to weekday and whether or not we change rooms or resorts depends on if we travel on a Friday, and how many points we have available.

For example - last trip we travelled Thursday to Friday. We stayed in 2 stuidos Thursday then moved to a 2 bedroom. That was because of points and because of two guests for one night that we didn't want to stay in a 2br with.

Next trip - Friday to Friday - will stay 2 nights in CSR then move to BWV. That is because of lack of points! If I had the points, I would rather not move.

We've done both. First DVC trip in 2003, checked into BCV on Sat. and checked out on Friday. This past trip, checked in on Sunday and out on Friday. Next trip we check in on Wed. and check out on Sunday. Those 4 nights are 142 points!! OUCH! But unfortunately this is the only time we can go and I'm not paying cash if I have the points. Luckily the past two years we've banked points. So we will still have points after our Oct. trip in case we decide to do a trip next year before our 2006 use year begins.

We have only used points. This year we are using 140 pts for 3 nights in May. WOW!!! But my husband won't pay cash and with 3 young DK's doesn't want to change resorts during the stay. We talked about going to AKL using AP discount, no go. Maybe I'll talk him into in one year when we run out of points...(when he wants the 2 bdrm instead of 1 bdrm or wants to visit 3 times instead of 2 times a year)

I plan to pay cash for weekends until I buy more points. I like to see different resorts and hope to stay in them all! I have had Sun-Thursday stays twice so far and have another one booked for next Feb. vacation. This summer, I have a big trip booked like this: Saturday-Thursday nites at SSR on points, move to BWV on DVC discount or possibly other deluxe with an AP rate (if they ever come out!) then on to Sun-Wed. at the BCV on points. I've never ever changed hotels mid trip before so this will be a first for us! Be on the lookout for my trip report!

Up to this point we've arrived at DVC on Sunday morning, checked in and stayed through Thursday night, checked out Friday morning and then either left for home after eating lunch someplace in WDW or booked a cash night for Friday and then left for home on Saturday.

I expect that this will be our pattern in most cases in the future as well.

Usually fly in sat afternoon/evening, and crash for the night at a priceline hotel. Check out first thing the next morning, go to a park, and check in to BWV sun afternoon. Stay until thu or fri as our time and points allow. We can get two of these near-week vacations in a 1BR suite, and still have some points to spare, so it works out nicely for us.

I haven't made my first trip home yet but we have always stayed for 2 weeks when we go. So for my first trip home in July I booked a 1BR at OKW from Sun-Thurs, cash nights for Fri and Sat, and then a 1BR at BCV fro Sun-Thurs.

I like the idea of staying at 2 resorts over a 2 week period. We did this before we were DVC members as well. Last year we did 1 week at HIFS and then the 2nd week at WL.

My original intention was to book another WDW on property for the Fri and Sat nights, but then I decided that it wasn't all that much more $$$ to stay put and use the DVC discount at OKW. With three kids, we decided to limit the moves to one if possible. I'm not sure what I would've done if the DVC discount was not available. I think we would have tried to get a deluxe with AP discount rather than use all of those points. To me I'd rather do that and stay the following Sun-Thurs for essentially what it would have cost me in points to stay Fri and Sat. We only have 220 points so this is the way we will vacation in the foreseeable future so we can get our 2 weeks in a 1BR each year. I'm not sure if I will do an add-on yet. Time will tell.

We rarely switch resorts, but we do switch to a studio on the weekends most of the time to save points (depending, of course, how many of us are there). With a lockoff, there is not much of a problem. In the beginning (early 90's), we would switch to a moderate, but we no longer do that.

However, this year we will be at OKW from Tuesday through Friday in a one-bedroom and then switch over to BWV in a studio from Friday night until we depart on early Tuesday morning. We've never tried the BWV; this seemed like a good time to do so and they had a studio available.

Always do 2 weeks in the summer, broken up Sun-Thurs weekend somewhere else either with Ap rate (we love AKL and the kids love the themeing at the Mod pools) or US for the weekend and FOTL. Back to DVC Sunday through Thursday Drive back home on Friday. This allows us to squeeze an extra one week trip in during Feb break or Easter Break. We've done the Sun through Tuesday (full week plus two days)in a 2 BR over Easter before and that put us in a points deficit for a while.
