Does everyone check in on Sunday and check out on Thursday?

We are kind of confused to say the least. I see sig lines that state that they have been to WDW for two weeks but they have 3 or more resorts for the same period of time. Why? Are we missing something here or not? Sincerely, Pat

We usually stay for a week at a time. If we are going to switch resorts, then our stays are longer as we do four night minimum intervals at any one resort. We usually switch between a DVC resort and say AKL or Poly on an AP code.

From what I have heard Saturday and Sunday are the big check-in/out days. It might make an interesting poll.

I believe some folks switch at weekends to cash or to another resort to conserve points. We do not do this.

Some folks, to save points, will do a two week vacation: Sun-Thur DVC, Fri & Sat WDW Hotel (maybe AP discount), then Sun-Thur another DVC.

Others just like the experience of two - or more - different resorts.

We usually have 6 night trips, Sat-Thurs, and pay the points. Once we're settled in, we'd rather not move.

YMMV

We like to book either Friday- Friday (check out) or Friday- Saturday.... and we dont like to change resorts, but have changed for longer trips.

We generally do Sat - Thurs (check out on Fri). We typically do not change resorts. Only time that we have was because it wasn't available for the entire week (booked to late) so we split between the two. I don't like to pack up mid way thru vacation, too much work.

We used to do the Sun - Thurs stay and then go off property to other parts of Florida - now we prefer to stay put and use our points - after all that's what we have already paid for. We still get in a few trips a year to our favorite DVC! :sunny:

We usually do Saturday to Thursday nights, so that we only have 1 weekend night. For our OKW May trip, the last 3 years I've booked Sunday to Thursday nights on points and then added Friday and/or Saturday on cash, same room. Friday or Saturday night in a 1 bedroom is 48 points, I usually pay around $300 so it's worth saving points.

I've never changed resorts during a trip except for one time to get frequent flyer tickets we had to go a day early, so I booked an AP discount night at BWI before we moved to BWV on Saturday.

We usually go Thursday-Sunday at one resort (either a WDW Resort, or Gaylord Palms), and then Sunday-Friday at a DVC resort. :)

We've did do a Sunday-Sunday over New Years, but after using 416 points on 7 nights, we'll be back to our habit of using 200 max for 5 weeknights. ;)

This Aug DS13 & I are staying Sat-Fri VWL on pts, continuing w/DVC cash discount Fri-Sun
Then we're staying Sun-Sat BCV on pts

so the 2 wknd days starting and ending we're doing pts, the wknd in the middle is cash discount

We are of the "not moving" club. We have enough points to stay for one week in a 1 bdrm. By staying in studios sometimes, we've always had enough to stay in one resort for the length of time we're at WDW.

That is the great thing about DVC - the flexibility that it allows each family to plan the vacation that is perfect for them! :cheer2: :cheer2:

In just 21 days we are doing just that. Checking in on a Sunday and leaving on a Friday afternoon. We spend the last day Friday usually camped out at DTD until our flight in the evening...smjj

Sometimes we check in on Friday, others Saturday, whatever. It just depends on when we get there. We stay until we leave, usually about 8 or 9 days later. Last time we had two Fridays and two Saturdays in our stay in a 2 bedroom villa.

We've always stayed 6, 7, or 8 nights and always used our points. Until I found the disboards I never thought of doing anything else otherwise. Now our next stay in November at the BCV we're staying one night on cash to save some points.

We plan to mostly do mid to lower season stays, Sunday - Thursday night, with Friday checkout, unless by some miracle we can afford a lot more points ;) Now, with that said, our first trip "home" we broke that rule.

Our first trip "home" last week we stayed Wednesday - Saturday night, checking out on Sunday. But we did this for three very good reasons...

1.) Thursday was DS #1's birthday, and we wanted to be there for that and not checking out first thing the next day.

2.) Gram could only go for those nights.

3.) I had no intention of waiting until Gram was off from school to go - we had been waiting since we bought in Fall 2003. That was long enough.

But, again, we were "breaking" our rules with this trip. We really do plan to do Sunday - Thursday night most always. And the switching to another hotel for the Friday and Saturday night and then going back to another DVC resort for longer stays is a great idea. I plan to remember that. We liked PO, so maybe we'll go there while waiting for the Points to go down :)

We have done the following - check in Sunday and depart on Friday; check in Sunday and depart the following Sunday; check in Saturday and depart the following Saturday. We don't like to move so we would rather use our points to stay for the whole week. Annmarie

Sunday check-in & Friday check-outs for us; more trips that way. If we do plan longer stays we pay cash for Fri. & Sat.; sometimes moving, sometimes not. Gotta max those point for many stays!

We're Sunday to Sunday people.

This year some of us arrived on Saturday. We spent the night in the Nick Hotel. It was ok, but i was glad to leave and go the the calm and quiet of OKW.

We usually arrive on a Sunday and leave on a Friday, wherever we go.

My DVC points have always been check in Sunday, check out Friday.
I pay cash on weekends. A typical scenario:

Arrive Saturday; check into Pop Century
Check out of PC and check into DVC
Check out of DVC Friday; check back into PC
Check out of PC Sunday.

I'm planning on doing this again in October. I might book All Stars instead of
Pop Century, depending on where I can get AP rates. But I like Pop Century
much better!

If I had more points or had a family tagging along, I might not do all that
moving around.
