Does DVC still meet your vacation desires once te kids leave the nest?

It's funny, DH and I did things pretty much backwards from most of the responses here. We bought DVC before we even had a nest hah! We were in our early 20s, and only now we're having kids (DD is 1 and we hope to get pregnant again soon). Since we know and love vacationing at WDW without kids, there's not much concern that that'll change in 18ish years. Too bad our BWV contract will end soon after. 2042 is going to come up really fast.

We are having more fun at Disney without the kids. Then there are always grandchildren to introduce to Disney.

Still thinking about long term family changes and vacation needs as time goes on BEFORE purchasing. I have 2 small children now (2 and 4 yrs)......i know they will grow and change. Do you mind sharing how your family has changed and if you still enjoy DVC now? Would you do it again? Do you enjoy going without kids? Have you traded in to try RCI? Experiences?

I bought in 1998, my son was 2. He's now graduating high school and his graduation gift, one week in Aug at OKW with 5 of his friends, without adult supervision. Since he's 18 he can check in on his own! My timeshare use has changed in the last 2 years and I'm sure more changes will come when he's in college. I did Food and Wine with my girlfriends 3 times, "sans les enfant", and survived it. Prior to 2014 I hadn't gone to Disney without kids since my son was born, and now he's the one going without me. It goes beyond Disney World now, I love the resorts, I love Food and Wine, now I still buy yearly passes but I spend less time riding, more time enjoying the resort amenities and the restaurants etc. Next faze, hopefully after college and a wedding, I'll get to take my grandchild(dren) when he has them. I'm in it for the long run, I'll be 80 in 2042 when my membership is done and I plan to be near Pirates of the Caribbean, slurping on a Dole right up to the end. Of course I hope my son will have bought his own by then, and I can resume life as I've grown accustomed...... And Nanna will watch the kids!

We bought recently, just on our second DVC trip...my kids now are 19, 15 and 12. It seems they all still love it, and are really loving the DVC part of it....I have also noticed as they get older the attractions we do in the parks have changed and it almost seems like a new place! Now that my kids are getting older they are getting into the planning, I guess I have trained them well.
We are looking to buy more points as we would like the option of the ability to bring other family with us and as they kids get older I want each kid to have points left to them from our will!! I need to make sure I have an even amount for all three!!

Some day I look forward to going alone while we wait for grandchildren and it will be just like when we honeymooned at Disney..so long ago!!

Well with Dvc, you also have Hilton Head,Vero Beach and Aulani Resort. So if you don't want a theme park vacation you have those options.

We go soon, taking son, dil, 2 grandchildren, 4 and 2. Of course dvc meets our vacation needs, our son was raised going to WDW, his 1st trip he was 4. Now 24 years later, his son is going for the second time and his daughter for the first. Just wish I knew about dvc sooner then 96. Bought in 98.
