I'm renting points from a very nice DVC'er for my stay at BWV next May. I'm thinking I might ask my neice to stay with us a couple of nights as we'll probably be picking her up from her FL college our first day there and rather than just putting her on the airplane back to MA, give her a couple of days at Disney with us.

Can I add her name to the ressie(so she gets her own room key)or can only the DVC'er add her name to the ressie?

The best luck I've had was to add the person by calling the DVCer.

You can try calling and see what happens. Worst they can tell you is that you need the member to make modifications for you.

I'd call the person you are renting form and let them know. If they think they need to add your niece's name to the reservation, they can. I htink that the only reason it would need to be added is so that she could get a key.

I am assumiong here that adding her doesn't put you over room occupancy limits.

No, adding her does not put us over the room limit. It's only my DH & I at this point and I feel like I'd like to invite her as last year I took her sister & DBF to several nites, staying at Pop Century. Gotta be fair, you know!

No need to add her to the reservation ahead but you will want to on check in so she can have a key and access to the perks that are applicable.

I agree. Just do it at check in. No need to do it sooner, so why go through the trouble?

You can go either way but I think you can call MS direct to add names as a renter. That's about all they will let you do.

I've been to WDW and stayed at various hotels many times either paying cash or renting points. In all of those visits every single room key card has had my name only. Everyone's name was listed in the system, including my wife's, and the only name that ever prints out is mine. Even the key cards with charging privileges have just my name and my wife signs her name on the back. No one has ever questioned it.

Is it just me? Does anyone get room keys with different names?

Also, I always ask for extra cards and get them without a problem. IOW, I get more cards printed than I have people in the room. Does anyone ever have a problem getting additional cards?

They changed it in January. Everyone now has their own name on their room ID. You will only get as many room IDs as people booked into the room. If you tell them that you lost a room ID to get an extra one, they will cancel the one you "lost".
