Does DL do anything special for July 17th?

I wondered if there was a perk for going the actual day of the park anniversary, or if it's just another day, with the probability of huge crowds.

Not really anymore. Cast members are usually given a button to wear showing the current year's anniversary, but that's about it. Sometimes there's a small ceremony in Town Square.

Yeah not much until they hit another milestone anniversary.

They really dont do much on that actually day. The CM buttons or the ceremony maybe.

The only time they do things is on a milestone year, and in that case they do it for the whole year with maybe a specific celebration on the actual day.

Last year was its 55th anniversary and OMG it was sooo busy! We stood in line to see Tinkerbell and then left! lol...It was also summer, but we were there all week and it wasent nearly that busy.

Oops..edited to add, that we really didnt see anything that great that they did special...it was just REALLY busy LOL..My son did get a 55th anniversay Mickey ears hat lol

Sometimes there's a small ceremony in Town Square.

The past several years (besides the 50th and 55th anniversaries), there has been a "Re-dedication Ceremony" in Town Square, on the steps to the Train Station. It's not really a big production by any means and fairly short in duration. YouTube has several videos of the re-dedication ceremony if you're interested.

Otherwise, as others have mentioned, it's usually very busy since it's in the middle of the summer. But a day at Disneyland is usually a good thing no matter what time of year it is.

There are no bad days at Disney, but I'm glad to know if I opt to rest in my hotel that evening, I wouldn't be kicking myself in the AM!
