Does Disney offer MB for add-ons at sold-out (BWV or OKW) resorts?

Is the $10 MB offered for add-ons at sold-out resorts OKW and BWV, or are they only offered at $84 per point?

MB's are not offered at OKW and BWV's.:( It will cost $84 to add on now at those resorts, if you get called from DVC waiting list.

This explains all of the recent ROFR buybacks. Disney buys back contracts at $70 per point or less, then re-sells them to wait-list members at $84. Easy sale, easy profit!

Is this a change from a month or so ago? We were offered an add-on at OKW and MB would apply as long as we purchased at least 100 more points.

FredS,
I would call your guide and he will verify this for you.I am almost positive that you "can't" get MB's on OKW and BWV's.When my brother did a 100 pt add on at OKW about a year ago, he had to pay the "current " price at that time.My guide also told me the same thing about 2 months ago.

Also on another thread, Cruelladeville just got a call for OKW pts and they told her she would have to pay the $84 pt for her add on at OKW.

ncligs: We were told no MB as well on a BWV add-on.

FredS: Either there is a misunderstanding or you got very, very lucky. I hope it is the latter.

Yes, I was offered OKW at $84 per point, and no MB. Just to be sure, I called the 9100 number and talked to a different guide, to see if I got the same info, which I did. It's a strict $84 per point, they don't offer MB at either OKW or BWV. I'm sad to say that we decided to turn down the add-on at this time. :( It just breaks my heart to have to do that, but $84 seems like so much money! And there's that pesky war that is keeping the economy down, so we passed on the add-on. I still owe $5000 on my BCV contract, so I decided that if I have that paid off in the next 2 1/2 years, I may actually come out ahead. The guide that I talked to was from Saginaw, MI originally, and told me that I bought in to DVC in 1997 for $55! That was only 6 years ago! I just feel so down about not adding on--I'm going to find a lot of chocolate to eat.:( :( :( :( :(

One thing I would consider is your use year. If your use year is August or September and they are going to give you 2002 points, that is a better situation because you could still rent or bank them and get new points in 6 months, than if you have a March or April use year and they only give you 2003 points.

Hmmm, I am thinking that Disney decided there was enough demand for the sold out resorts and/or they were incurring enough expense to exercise ROFR to buy resales for the sold out resorts that they stopped allowing MB for add-ons at those resorts. There was definitely not a misunderstanding, as a matter of fact the reason we decided not to buy an add-on was that we only could really afford an additional 50 points, but MB would only be available if we added 100 or more points. We went through all the numbers with the guide, which definitely included MB, but actually we decided against it because we just didn't need to incur that expense at that time.

So if you buy an early use year, you're not getting any 2002 points to sell back (MB) at $10 pp?

I was told I could have MB if I purchased 100 or more points just last month. I purchased my add on at OKW.

I would suspect this is an area where one could get a different answer from each person they talked to. If your guide says yes and you decide to add on, get it in writing. If they say no, ask to speak to a supervisor.

Help! The more posts I read about this, the more confused I become. It seems like MB are negotiable. I wonder if a NEW member who was only interested in BWV would now be able to get BWV and get MB?

I suspect that it would be an extreme circumstance that a NEW member would be offered BWV points given the waiting lists for add ons.
