Does Disney ever run out of ECV's to rent?

I notice everything says that there is limited availability with wheelchair and ECV rentals at the theme parks. We will be going to The Studios (or whatever the heck it is called now) on Saturday. We won't get there until about 3:30pm. Are we taking a huge chance that they won't have an ECV to rent? Is it common for them to run out?

The early risers for the park will take a break in mid afternoon or be done for the day; so, some scooters are returned by that 3:30 pm time. If it's not available by then, the park will get a lot of returns after the parade. You can be put on a waiting list and if you have a cell phone you will be contacted that way when your name comes up or you can wait it out yourself right there.

It happened to us once in all our 25 or more trips to Disney and we got a scooter about 1-1/2 hours later and it was at this park. We stayed close to the front, but we managed to do some activities. We walked over to see the Beauty and the Beast show and to do TOT.

I think your odds are pretty good that you should be alright for a scooter.

Yes it does happen. I was a CM and saw it happen many times, mostly during peak days. The problem is that they also have to keep some in reserve for when things break down. On super busy days like Christmas (days when it will be hard to get into the parks anyway as they will be filled to capacity) I would not bet on it. During non holidays in peak season, it's not as likely but may still happen.

Thanks everyone! We didn't want to take a chance of them running out of rental scooters or not having wheelchairs in the parking lot. We ended up finding a local rental for $80 and my mom was able to use it at the park yesterday and she used it around town here today. I will return it in the morning.

I am glad we went this route. The handicap parking area was closed so we had to park a lot further back than normal. There weren't any wheelchairs in that area. The first empty wheelchair we saw was up by the buses. They did have plenty of scooters for rent but this worked out really well.
