Does Disney enforce 5 guests per room?

I'm looking to book 5 nights in May, preferably at a moderate POR or CBR. It will be me, DH, DD4, DS3, and grandma. There are rooms available with 2 adults and 2 kids, but not 3 adults and 2 kids. The problem is, we do not need the pull down bench. DH and I will be in one bed. DD will be with grandma in another bed, and DS will be in an inflatable Intex bed which he loves (looks like a tan raft). I don't mind paying for the extra adult and staying in a 4 person room, it's just that my options are severely limited as there are no moderate rooms available. We're not looking into getting a ding plan either if that helps. I'm also open to booking either through Disney or Orbitz. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

POR has rooms that sleep 5. I think CBR does, though I'm not totally sure. You would probably have better luck calling and speaking to a reservation agent rather than trying to book on line. Or, use a travel agent. I think the on-line booking agent is a little "buggie".

The limitation is fire codes, if the code allows 5 in a particular room then it's ok. If it does not allow for 5 then they can't allow 5 in the room.

POR and CBR both have rooms that allow 5. I would also call and talk to someone. But you have to book one of the rooms that sleep 5, they won't allow you too book a room that only sleeps 4.

If there are no moderate rooms available, your options are: two rooms at a value resort, a family suite at a value resort, a Fort Wilderness Cabin, a deluxe resort room that sleeps five, a Swan or Dolphin room that sleeps five, a DVC one-bedroom that sleeps five, a DVD two-bedroom, trying two separate consecutive reservations at two different moderate resorts that sleep five (because sometimes it's just one single unavailable night that prevents booking a stay), or changing your dates to when there's a five-person moderate available.

Disney does not do bed checks. You will have to figure out what to do about park tickets, alternative transportation from the airport and, potentially, dining plans.

I agree Disney does not do bed checks. But they are serious about the limitation. All of the things mentioned are issues. You will not be able to get DDP for more than 4. You will not be able to use DME for more than 4. No ADR's for more than 4 etc etc etc. And folks have been forced to leave the property when discovered.

Actually, the ADRs won't be affected. You can make a dining reservation for however many people you want. But the other points are definitely good ones.

You can book CBR or POR with five, but you will not get the Pirate rooms at CBR (they sleep four) or Princess rooms at POR (they also sleep four). The Alligator Bayou rooms at POR sleep five with the murphy bed and many of the rooms at CBR have the murphy bed that sleep five. You could check out the Family Suites at All Stars or AOA that sleep six with no extra charge for the third adult.

If you can't find availability for 5 at POR or CBR, try calling. Then try Orbitz to see if they have any availability in their inventory. If that doesn't work, try a split stay at the same resort: 2-3 days, followed by a second reservation for the remainder.

You can't book 5 into a room for 4. The computer won't allow it. And there are hasty consequences if you sneak someone in and are caught with too many people. Not to mention that the 5th person won't be able to open the room door, use their MB to charge to the room, make FPs at 60 days, use the Dining Plan, take advantage of EMH, or use ME.

Yes, with the exception of ADRs. You can make ADRs for as many people as you want. We book ADRs for more than our party number all the time because my DH has family in the area. ADRs aren't linked to your reservation.

since no one under 2 is staying in the room YES they are VERY strict( by local fire code law they MUST be) you will not only *not* be allowed to make a reservation, any attempt to bypass this WILL be met with severe penalty

No - you do need the pull down bed because you are a party of 5.

Your options on property in the moderate/value range:
- Book CBR with fold down bed
- Book POR with fold down bed
- Book CSR with a Junior Suite
- Book ASMu Suite
- Book AoA Suite
- Book a Ft Wilderness Cabin
- Book two rooms at value or moderate

If you are trying to get one of those rooms and you say it is not available then check the inventory at Orbitz, Expedia etc. They might have rooms in their allotted inventory. But I would also call and see if a CM can find you a room.

We are a family of five, and at Disney, we absolutely always book a room for five (since our youngest turned three years old.) At non-Disney resorts/hotels and in VRBO rentals that list capacity at 4, we call and ask if it's OK that we have two adults, two teens and a little guy. I can think of one resort in Canada that would not allow it, so we booked a room with a six-person capacity. But in our experience, most non-Disney hotels from Kimpton to Four Seasons are fine with this - they offer a rollaway, or extra blankets/pillows or whatever. Disney doesn't have that kind of wiggle room, and I think that can be surprising to new guests.

I'm just curious, has anyone actually seen or known someone who was "caught" at wdw with more than the allowed occupancy? I'm not condoning this and I'm not talking about something crazy like 8 in an all stars room. I mean something like what the op is asking, a family of 5 in a 4 person room.

I'm just trying to envision how this would happen.

Most wdw regulars know about the occupancy limits but I think many casual visitors don't see any problem with 5 family members in a hotel room especially with the popularity of aero beds etc. they are not out trying cheat the system. I can't see guest relations throwing some family out on the street for having an extra child in the room.

Just curious if anyone's actually seen this happen.

I'd also think housekeeping would report suspected violations.
