Does Disney (Boardwalk) really require the person renting the scooter to be present for dropoff now?

Have reserved a scooter from BV for the past several years (didn't go to DIS last summer) and when I just tried to reserve online it said the Boardwalk is a "meet and greet" resort and we must be there in person to accept the scooter. Does BW still meet the scooter company on behalf of the customer or do they literally mean we have to be there to get the scooter?

We find we prefer Gold Mobility, as they drop off on our schedule, not a predefined schedule and their equipment tends to be in much better condition than any of the other companies. Scooterbug is the same company that rents in the park rentals, so that should say a lot about their quality or lack thereof.

I know Apple will meet you at your room for pick up and drop off so you may want to check with BV to see if they will do that.

Gold will too if needed, but generally they will just meet you as you are getting off of Magical Express or arriving to the resort.

We drove last trip so Apple met me at check in and then picked up from my room so I didn't have to worry about it and was close to my car. It was really helpful. Glad to hear Gold is doing it too as my MiL uses them. I have always used Apple and with the discounts I get for being a repeat customer on top of the military discount I have never even considered another company. I was really unhappy when they were dropped from preferred but they are doing their best to make it easy--even swapped out the chair for me when I said I preferred a captains chair to the lower back style. It took him about a half hour to bring the new seat and he showed up at my room with it.

Several vendors will arrange to meet based on your schedule; many have been doing this for several years even before WDW first limited onsite delivery to a small set of vendors. I believe Buena Vista Rentals has a set delivery/pick-up schedule and there may be a couple others who have set times for each resort. I believe there may be a vendor who is allowed to deliver/return at MCO, though I forget which one. And at least one vendor will allow pick-up at their warehouse if you have a vehicle.

Gold is one that was working on being able to do MCO, but that was pre COVID, hoping they can get back to that idea, as they were also working on transportation that was affordable (something like $50 round trip as I recall) that could accommodate 2 ECVs and up to something like 4 additional people plus luggage, with ME going away this would be really useful. At one point it even looked like they might have been able to have pickup and drop off at your gate, which would have been a major game changer. I know once COVID hit these negotiations likely fell apart though, somehow knows what they can end up with.

They also allow pickup at their warehouse. There may be others that do this as well, not sure.

The change to a single vendor was made October 1, 2019, so many people are probably not aware.

Sue, is the quality and reliability of the scooter bugs brand as good as other rental agencies? My husband will need to rent one from someone and I am wondering if scooter bug is the best, or should we just go with another company? thanks:)

We have used Scooterbug on several occasions and the ECV was very new and well maintained. We had no problems with the company, their product, or their service. We have used the “light“ version. These ECVs were nothing like the ones at the parks.
