Does cooler weather make you hungry?

No matter what I eat today I can't get full. I'm constantly hungry! Then when I'm finished eating something, it doesn't feel like I ate anything.

Are you more tired then normal? Is your skin extra dry? I had the same lack of fullness sensation when my thyroid was out of whack. Otherwise, are you pregnant????

This has been happening to me too! I'm ravenous.

But, I have to say, my thyroid levels are out of whack a bit (I'm on the hyper side which does create a ravenous appetite).

Anyway, PMS will also cause this (I've got that this week too).

Finally, yes, winter can cause an appetite increase. It's the old need of having to "pack in the food before the winter famine."

I am having the same 'side effects'!! but not pregant or no thyroid problems. just dreary weather!

I used to have a thyroid problem but I just went to the doctor the other week and my blood work was fine. As for the pregnancy thing, there's a slight (and I mean SLIGHT) possibility but I doubt it. I guess I'm just getting ready to hibernate for winter. ;)

I never understood the pregnancy/hunger thing. I never got ravenously hungry when pregnant and no one that I know ever did either--especially not in the early stages.

Absolutely! Like even today, the sun is out and it's pretty mild, so my appetite isn't bad, but the last few days with the rain and the gloom - all I did was eat, eat, eat. :earboy2:

Yes. I eat a LOT more food during the colder months. As soon as spring comes, I have noticed I eat less.

I don't want more food in this weather but I crave different foods. I don't eat soup in the summer for example but come fall/winter I love it. Like Vacanut I also crave comfort foods more.

Myst

I find I do eat different in the Fall/Winter. I can not wait for Thanksgiving Day! Oh the food...

I'm hungry no matter what the temperature is. Am no hungrier in December than I am in August.

It can have something to do with the Seratonin/Melatonin levels and the kinds of things you are craving. I have SAD, and when its dark and dreary, I don't get enough light, not enough seratonin stimulation, and I tend to get depressed. But along with that I will want comfort foods, starchy things, chocolate, heavy soups, etc. Makes me feel like hibernating.
