We sailed on the 4 night Wonder cruise May 22nd. The seas were a little rough the morning of Castway Cay day. The excursions at CC were cancelled that morning as well. We went swimming at the family beach and it was full of seaweed, washed up on the shore and in the water. For those who have been to CC a few times, Is there always that much seaweed there? It felt so slimy. We still had a great time building sand castles and sipping drinks while lounging on the beach. Please let me know of your CC beach experiences. Thanks!

I havenever seen seaweed at CC. It has always been beautiful and the water has been clear. Once it was cold, as we had come through a hurricane, and the water reflected that. But that is it. Sorry you had a slimy stay at CC...

We've been able to dock at CC 4 out of 5 cruises. Never had a problem with seaweed either. Two of those times were in late May so I don't think it's a seasonal thing. Probably just a freak occurance thing. :sad2:

I sailed in July 2 years ago, and yes there was seaweed. At times it was annoying. Going again on July 24 I'll keep you posted...........

No seaweed in March, 2004. Sorry you encountered that.

We were there Aug 7, 2004 and had the same problem as the OP. Very windy, all the shore excursions were cancelled. There was tons of seaweed all along the shore. The water was cloudy and had seaweed floating in it. It was funny looking at the pictures in Shutter's, some kids covered themselves with the seaweed and had their pictures taken. We didn't let the seaweed spoil our time on CC. Just hoping this August will be a little clearer

With the exception of the recent 14-day cruise, we've always sailed in Sept or Oct (total of about 5+ times). We've never encountered a seaweed issue at CC.

I was at CC on May 28 ,2005 and everything was gorgeous! Never saw any seaweed! It was the hottest day this year so far on the island! :sunny:

I've never seen seaweed on CC. Out of our three cruises, there was only one we were barely able to dock at CC due to bad weather, and then once we did, all shore excursions were cancelled and it was cold, rainy and windy. We ended up eating then getting back on the ship. We still had a good time though. CC is one of our favorite stops!

Seaweed? MMmmmmmm .... Yummy! Oh wait, depends what kind. :)

Never did see much of any seaweed at CC.

Last month there was some. It was growing on the sea floor. Some places had tons of it. Some had none at all. When you stepped into it it was real nasty. Gave me the willies. I guess it depends on where you are.
