Does Caring for Giants tour eliminate need to ride the safari?

Does the Caring for Giants tour also allow you to see many of the other animals you'd see on the safari? We've ridden the safari many times so if we skip it this trip, it isn't that big of a deal. However, I was hoping that maybe we'd get a decent glimpse of some of the other animals while on the Caring for Giants tour. TIA!

You only see the elephants from the back of the elephant exhibit. You don't see any other animals. There are a lot more elephants there than you can see from the safari.

I just did this last week - we did see a Giraffe but from the back of the elephant exhibit you couldn't see much. Wish I had decent pictures but I had accidentally hit motion picture so all of my pictures have that stupid motion feature which makes them pretty much useless.

We only saw the back end of the Elephants from a distance on our tour. You are loaded on a bus and taken to a spot to climb up the stairs and view the elephants. There was a nice young lady from Africa there to answer questions and tell us about her country. However, that was the highlight of our tour. I guess we were unlucky that the elephants wanted to leave our area and get closer to the safari, LOL.
We saw no other animals at all. I thought that Caring for Elephants, meant "caring for elephants". as in seeing how they get groomed, fed, medical tx, or other behind the scenes things. That was not the case and we were disappointed in it.
I would recommend the safari. Where we watched backed up to the safari route and we could see alot of elephants over there. They had a better view on the safari.

That’s exactly what I thought the tour meant too. I was considering this for our September trip, but not to just view them & hear about the CMs country. Thanks for posting your experience.

Maybe a little but you should be able to select any of the frames from those "live" clips and save it as a still image. Comes in handy if someone blinks. Sometimes, even if the main image has eyes closed, you can inch forward a few frames and they are open.

You do get a "caring for elephants" talk but I guess it's really based on what the representative there chooses to talk about. We've done it several times and they do talk about what it's like to be with the elephants. The care takers for the elephants are also there, along with the cultural representatives that live with elephants in their home countries. I'm not sure how much more care for elephants you want.

And yes, they do have no control over where the elephants want to hang out. If they are not around the observation area you won't get to see them. That is a risk that is unfortunately outside of anyone's control

When we went, there were no caretakers at all, just one African girl who most of the people ignored. We spent time talking with her and learning about her country. That was the best part of it. I don't know why you are so indignant? I actually know that no one has control over where the elephants are; that's just common sense. When a tour is called "caring for elephants" I thought that was what we were gong to see; you know, caretakers actually caring for them such as I mentioned in my post. I thought we would see behind the scenes care of the elephants, not in one spot to try and see if they would show themselves. That's why I was disappointed. Didn't think I needed to explain something that simple. But have a magical day

WOW! The stars and moon aligned....couldn't get space for all 3, but space for my DD and DH came available for the rhino tour just now!!!!

My DD is crazy excited!
