I was using a gym but would like to start working out at home. Is anyone doing this and what do you do to exercise? What is your favrotie video if you use video. What do you do for cardio?

I love the Biggest Loser Workout DVD. Some of the commentary gets old after a while, but you actually have the option of turning off the vocals, which is nice! There are several exercise segments and you can mix and match as much as you want.

Besides that video, I also run around my neighborhood.

I do both! I also LOVE the Biggest Loser DVDs. Jillian Michaels DVDs are good too. I usually go to the library once a week and pick up whatever they have adn try them out.

I workout at home. I started with the firm and then progressed and went to Cathe. She is awesome and her hard (killer is more like it) workouts is what has kept me in the best shape ever!!!

When I do stay home to play I like to use the Winsor Pilates for core strength and then I usually will do the dreaded treadmill and watch a movie or some such. I'd much rather be walking/wogging outside though.

I also have a gym membership and will use it when weather is not as nice as now.

Like Sheree', I started with the Firm and have now moved on to Cathe Friedrich videos for both cardio and weights. I also run once a week. I've also heard good things about Turbo Jam for cardio.

I bought an exercise bike a couple of years ago when I had bone spurs, my gym didn't have a television. I also started doing yoga tapes Rodney Yee and Susan Deason. This past Jan I bought a treadmill so now I use the tapes, the bike and the treadmill. I also have some hand weights to work out my shoulders

Yes, because I hate gyms. Over the years, I have added to my home gym, and now have quite a setup. I have a Norditrack Ski Machine, a treadmill, a bowflex, free weights and barbells, a step, a balance ball, a medicine ball, and exercise balls, and an extensive collection of videos/dvds. I have a TV mounted on the wall, and a stereo also! LOL! Like I said, this has taken me about 10 years to get, but I find being able to workout at home is what has kept me in shape. I can put dinner in the oven, and workout for 20 minutes while it's cooking. You can't do that from a gym! I can watch what I want on TV-I tape Oprah and Dr. Phil and other junk TV. I love it, and actually look forward to working out.

For those of you who are Comcast On Demand subscribers...the service offers a good variety of fitness workouts. I've used several different programs because I tend to get bored. Check it out!

Sheree and Norma -

I would like to start working out with Cathe - what dvd's do you recommend? I am loking for intermediate/advance workouts. I know some of her tapes use a step? Looking for a good 60 minute cardio work out.

Thanks,
Tammy

:wave2: I do, too. :)

I've been doing anything and everything. lol I have an elliptical, weight equipment, dvds, you name it. I am on a Taebo and Cathe rotation right now so for the next 6 weeks I will rotate my workouts between strength and cardio plus Pilates and Yoga mixed in. In the fall I will go back to the gym for variety.

Cathe has a website at www.cathe.com with sample clips so I would say start there. It really depends what you like. My fave workouts are the Body Blast series and the Gym Style series. You may not like them, though, because everyone is different ;) so I encourage you to take a look at the sample clips.

I lost my weight previously with Beach Body Power 90. It mixes weights and cardio on opposite days. I also used Winsor Pilates. I'm going to the gym now b/c my DS has karate 3 days a week there and I work out while he practices. It's obviously not enough so I'm going to start back working out at home as well.

I work out at home. I started with Turbo Jam, which may not be the most advanced workouts there are, but they are fun, and no workouts work if you don't use them. I do these every morning at 4am. I've also added, running on my treadmill on alternate days and weight lifting on my bowflex on days I don't run. I've got so much energy now that I find myself looking for ways to workout rather than putting in couch time. I still watch crap TV but it is usually from the eliptical, rather than the couch.

I do, I don't have a huge gym though just a treadmill, exercise bike and free weights. I personally don't like gyms and I can't see myself getting bundled up to go to a gym in the dead of winter, I guess I'm just lazy like that :)
