Does anyone use the grocery game list to save money on groceries?

I searched and found a Harris Teeter.com site. I went and looked at their weekly special, I think Publix has the better deals.

No---I just bought bread this weekend and had I known I could have gotten it for a few pennies over a dollar.... :sad2: .

I didn't know I could trial more than one for just $1 :(.

I can stop in and check tomorrow--IF it is B1G1 free, I'll pick it up and put it in the freezer.
Oh, I get it, you just signed up for the Winn Dixie list and you saw the bread! Nope, that sale is over as of Tues or Weds and the new sale is on. I'll shop the new sale on Monday with my new grocery game list and coupons. Do you have a WD preferred card? Do you have AAA? If you have both, you can sign up on their website here: http://www.winndixie.com/clubs/aaa/aaa_club_intro.asp and save an extra 5% on Mondays.

((I got the B1G1F bread by the way, I think it was Natures own brand)

Yup, that's what I did, now I just have to remember to un check that box before my trial is up. Unless I save soooo much by doing both that it benefits me. Haven't decided yet but I'm leaning towards just keeping WD.

LOL! Yes, HT is a store. Let's just say that anyone who has heard me talk about coupons & saving money is shocked to see me shopping there. :) It is considered a yuppyish store with gormet sections. I get the sale list on Tuesday nights by going thru their webgrocer site. ;) They post the sales...even unadvertised...that afternoon. You can just look up the items that you have good coupons for to see if they are on sale. That is what makes it easier for me.

Do you have bread outlet stores near you? It is worth it to go there & get your bread products. I pick up 3 loaves at a time and buns every other week.

100% whole wheat and least amount of "offending" ingredients is what I strive for. I will check the bread outlet we have....but I'm not certain it would carry what I could use.

There are several to choose from. They even have the potato breads. Wheat & grain breads are there too. It's worth a shot to give them a call. I can get a loaf for around .60 and that is at their regular price. They run sales on overstocked items too. :) They use to carry the day old stuff from the stores & were cheaper but now they just stock the same stuff that the stores get. The kids like to go & pick out the Hostess mini muffins. I can get those for $1 a box and they are good for their school snacks or in their lunch instead of something alot sweeter.

All this talk about shopping several different stores and going to bread outlets....I'm just not going to run all over the place shopping. Just like I'm not going to buy ebay coupons or do a coupon cutting website. That would defeat the purpose of the convenience I'm getting from the GG site. I also don't have a free day to spend soley on shopping. I can do publix and WD because they are both less than 5 mins from home and across the street from each other. Although I may drop Publix if the savings doesn't work out to be enough for me. The bread outlet and Wal-mart would both be much further drives(gas + time= not worth it to me)

I live in a small town. The bread store is less than a mile away and near my kid's school. WM is 2 miles away and the HT is 1 mile. It doesn't take me long to do my shopping at all. The number of items on my list each week is short since I don't do a regular weekly shopping run. Someone would probably really wonder what I am feeling my family by looking in my cart most days. LOL! If you don't want to stockpile you don't need to get multiples. We might get 3 coupons in our Sunday coupon insert so if I relied on those I wouldn't save any money. I want to stock up on 9-12 of an item when it is on sale & I need coupons that are released in other areas. The order I just got today cost me 3.28. Those coupons will save me 52.90. I have been doing this for almost five years now so most of it is second nature to me. What takes me a long time to write out is simple to me. I have looked at it as my job and the savings as my income. It's nice to see our savings build thanks to my efforts. Like I said earlier, I have taken the summer off because it is harder with kids. Somehow I use to make 6 trips in 2 1/2 hours with DD in tow while DS was at PS when they ran triple coupons specials so that I could load up on all the free stuff. It's a rush...if I have to have an addiction I guess this one isn't too bad. ;)

I have been reading through the thread trying to better understand the game and have a question. My son has food allergies, specifically, soy, peanut and chocolate. From what I can tell the coupons are for alot of ready made products and or sauces, dressings, etc. Most of those items usually have soybean oil, etc. which he cannot have. For those of you who actually played the game for a while, am I correct about the ready made products, sauces, etc? At this point I am thinking that it is not really wise for me to join. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated :goodvibes

Yes, most of the coupons & big sales are on ready made items and probably would be a problem for anyone with food allergies. Watching the sales adds for the deals on meat & produce would probably be the best way to keep up on the deals for your family. I don't play the GG but I have been doing what the GG helps you do & that is what I have seen. Of course, you could always try it for the $1 trial & see if you find anything else that you could use.

Perhaps using it for your cleaning products/paper goods/and other things.

I buy my bread, hot dog buns and hamburger buns at Sams. They freeze well and are cheaper then the grocery stores.

Can't wait until the list comes out.
I know it's silly but...ME TOO!

I wondered if the list ever comes out earlier? I know my WD and Publix sales are already going so I just need the list(oh, I guess I need the Sunday paper too, guess you can't get that early though)

LOL! See how exciting this can make your weekend? LOL! BTW, there will be new P&G inserts this week because the last ones expire on Sunday. :)

My list is supposed to be posted on tuesday mornings but most weeks, it's posted by late monday afternoon. So yours might be ready a day or so early too.

We use Sam's for many things too. Bread when we are there, but I can only tolerate going every other week and bread won't keep that long. In my experience, bread doesn't freeze well at all! I have noticed over time that Sam's Club pricing is very uneven-- A lot of there items are no bargain at all.

What is the time span for your lists? Mine has been July 24-26 all week now. Do they put up the new lists on Sunday? That only gives me Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to shop according to the list since the my store's new ad comes out on Wednesdays. :confused3

I also found that you have to be very careful checking for deals at Sam's. I know what I can pay for something when it goes on sale & the standard coupon for it so there aren't many things that I can get a deal on there...unless they have a rebate on it. They do have some good rebates. I got a free membership one year as part of a mystery shop and I never went back that year.
