We stayed at 2 nights at Kidani in July and wish they had a counter service place. Just curious how others felt that stayed at Kidani already.

Thanks,

Denise

Well, I'm not sure where they could put one-and I'm thinking the expense would not be worth it to them. Do you think they assumed people would use the CS at Jambo? When we stay there again (and we will, because we love it!) I will order easy lunch things from the grocery service.

If they built it, we'd certainly use it.

I found we used our own in-room food options (PB&J, cheese, soup etc) much more this last trip as compared to VWL stays or even SSR because the cs over at Jambo wasn't something I could allow the kids to easily run off to for a quick bite. It saved us at least $100 by not having it. I'm happy about that.

I was concerned about lack of counter service until we actually stayed at Kidani. I think it would be nice but not having one wouldn't prevent me from staying there again.

Yeah it certainly won't stop us from staying at Kidani. I know they have in room and by the pool service with a service charge which we didn't try. Going over to Jambo is a pain too. I think we noticed it because we didn't go to a park the two nights we were there. We just wanted to chill by the pool during the day. We ordered pizza once for dinner, went to DTD for dinner and went to Jambo for lunch the day we arrived and departed. It is easy going over to Jambo but getting back you walk or wait for the one bus. I wish they had something there at Kidani.

Actually I was pretty much pro-CSR at Kidani until our visit in July. The walk from Kidani to Jambo and Mara is a very easy walk, so I'm not sure it's really worth putting a CSR in. I was also not very excited about Sanaa when first announced. I thought, not another expensive TS restaurant with food too exotic for our tastes. But I've actually made an ADR there for our December visit. From looking at the menu, it actually looks kind of interesting. So you can say I've kind of flip-flopped completely on my opinions on Kidani dining :rotfl2:.

I wish they had something at least by the pool that the kids would like at Kidani. I love Hurricane Hannah's at SAB. It would be nice if they had something like that or the one at OKW right by the pool. The selection by the pool is so limited for kids. We hung at the pool two days in a row so my husband and I went over to Jambo and brought food back..it was packed at took forever. Just a long process for some fast food lunch type stuff.

I think they need to put a CS place at Miller Road pool, South Point pool, Congress Park pool, Carousel pool, Paddock pool, VWL.

No, just noting that if a CS is needed at KV, then why not at all these other locations, too?

Well the question I asked had nothing to do with the "pools" not having CS places. I didn't ask "do you think all the pools at DVC resorts should have a CS place at them?" NO I commented several posts down about two CS places close to pools and how nice that was.

Most of the DVC resorts have CS places at them and although Kidani is part of AKL.....I was asking about the Kidani side.

I rarely eat CS, so I won't miss it at Kidani Village.

And I was suggesting all the other DVC locations that also don't have CS dining areas. KV is just a DVC location at AKV. Turtle Pond has a counter service at that pool. Why not all the others?

Our home resort is AKV both Jambo and Kidani.
We have stayed at Kidani once already when it first opened in May. We would LOVE for there to be CS. We had some of our own groceries but mostly ate out.
CS at Kidani would be very helpful to us.

Folks complain about no counter service at BWV, BCV, and OKW and its not in the works, I doubt it will come to Kidani either.

We only use counter service when at a studio. Otherwise, and not to brag, but I can whip up something in no time at all in our one bedroom kitchen that's tastier, or healthier than any counter service if having the right ingredients.
Chocolate frappes, to salads.

Yeah probabably but BCV has the little deli at the store, Beaches and Cream and also Hurricane Hannahs so no complaints there for us. Yeah I remember when we stayed at BWV too.....but you also have the BW with some quick pick up type foods. OKW has their little take out window for quickie stuff too. I would like anything like that at Kidani.

You have Mara. And the take out at the pool. What more do you need???

The division between Kidani and Jambo has probably lead to some perceptual issues. In reality, there are villas at SSR, OKW, BWV, BCV, etc. which are just as far from a Counter Service restaurant as Kidani is from Mara.

Given that Kidani was all new construction, I'm sure Disney looked at the dining situation closely and figured this was the best way to go. Sure people would use a CS at Kidan. But if most of the business consisted of folks who would otherwise have walked to Mara, spent more for TS at Sanaa, or bought groceries to eat in their room, it doesn't justify the added overhead for another restaurant.

Yes.

The condo style resorts are just different in layout and so my expectations on CS are different for them.

I think that every hotel style DVC ought to have food options that can be reached without having to walk thru the rain if it's raining. And it rains in FL! BCV does have options at the Marketplace. VWL you can use the covered walkways and go thru the main lodge. BLT has the walkway to CR. At Jambo house you have a covered walkway to Mara. Kidani ought to have something. I think BWV ought to have something.

Why exercise rooms at both places but not CS? Why pools at both but not CS. Why kids rec rooms at both places but not CS? I think it was short sighted and is a ding against the resort. I haven't liked it since I learned of it and after staying at Jambo and touring Kidani my thoughts have not changed.
