Does anyone think Luke from the VP DVD is a little on the annoying side??

Erin may have an annoying voice but she's not bad to look at. She must be tall. Everyone else (guys included) are a couple of inches shorter than her.

I think the whole DVD is cute. My three year old's name is Luke and he gets so excited that there is another Luke at Disney, lol. He yells "It's me Mommy, it's me!" He always points out Erin and says "that's you, Mommy"

...and of course Daddy is Dave :rotfl:

When we started planning this vacation my DH had to have the new planning DVD. I told him that we have been there enough and we really didn't another Disney planning video. When talking to my DH about Disney it's like talking to a 2 year old. So, I ordered the DVD. Maybe the word hate is too strong, but I really dislike this video. I know all about the Disney magic they are trying to create, but it just comes off annoying.

LOL!! I am glad I am not the only one!

When we received our video in the winter we were so excited to watch it. The hype we drummed up fell flat with our oldest DS. He was bored. The excitement I had was soon replaced by annoyance. Had it not been for the fun/info on the DIS; Dh and I were close to being turned off to the World.

I just want a nice, calm, info filled planning video filmed with a steady hand and longer shots of the subject matter. The annoying hosts have way too much face time on the screen. This is our first time back since we were very young children, and we wanted to see more footage of the World.

I mean, the relaxed dude is okay, and the two women are tolerable but Luke is the kid in the back of your history class who never shuts up. :p
Yes, but not as annoying as STACY, the girl who does the top seven must sees at WDW, the resort television show. She talks to much, is annoying, and visibly annoys the people around her who try to enjoy the ride with her incessant screaming.

Disney's travel planning videos are almost unbearable to watch anymore with those rediculously fakey actors. I miss the old planning videos (yes vhs videos) where it was just a voice over and they would show video of what disney has to offer.

I can't figure out what "VP" stands for in this thread!

Vacation Planning

I personally just love that there are 4 pages of us discussing the planning video!! :rotfl:

Oh my gosh! That's my favorite. I still have one and it's funny to watch because Animal Kingdom doesn't even exist in that video. The old video makes me want to go to WDW more than the new one does!

I think Luke is a little over the top. I think if he brought it down a notch he wouldn't be so bad. I think the woman with the small children is really annoying...the way she talks drives me crazy. Erin and Dave are my favorite. Erin is adroable and Dave is the only person keeping the video interesting. I agree though that there needs to be less of the hosts are more of the parks. The quick moving shots makes it impossible to enjoy the sights.

Perhaps Luke's target audience isn't teens (who, according to this thread, are UNIVERSALLY repulsed by him). My 4 and 7 year olds love Luke, though they express their affection by calling him a "poopy guy". In their culture, this indicates acceptance. Conversely, Dave has been relegated to my children's "baby list", which is reserved for such unsavories as the likes of Hitler and Stitch.

Anyway, perhaps Luke is meant to fill that little boy market void. Dave is clearly aimed at the parental demo, such as myself. Speaking of Dave, anyone else notice that Dave consumed a liter of beer and 2 glasses of wine (in Italy AND France)? No wonder it was siesta time!

I like the lead lady. Dave is great but people like Luke that screams next to me in rides I would like to grab them by the neck :badpc:

Exactly. You're supposed to enjoy the ride. People shouldn't show happiness like that in public if it will annoy everyone.

When I watch the planning video, I feel guilty for not being as visibly excited as those guys. I am that excited, but when people see me, they think I'm dead inside. :guilty: My countenance isn't so perky.

lol, im glad im not the only one. after watching the video (whick i do often) i sometimes dream of running into him at the parks....i mean im not a violent person but he just burns my last nerve... :furious: that part in the water parks when he has the glasses on ...... says something like " its time to chill" what were the writers of the video thinking....lol the first time i seen the video i was with my girlfreind. she has never been to the world and she really has no interest in going and luke didnt help my case at all. thankfully i talked her into it (well im paying for the trip) and we arrive home on jan 6th. cant wait to show a newbie the disney magic... :wizard:

I do indeed enjoy the VP dvd's, no matter who's in them. But, I will agree that the last one could have been a lot better. Luke was a bit over the top. Erin was kinda cute, but a little hokey. The worst part is that I can't watch her on the DVD, and then see her on that FOX show she was on...

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeird....has me thinking "..so she REALLY DOESN'T love WDW???"

Thats so funny! I thought the same thing when I saw her on that other show. I was so shocked for some reason. I thought I was the only one who thought that was weird.

Do they ever play the actual hm music? that drives me crazy. I also hate it when Erin pretends to be the ghost host. I don't think that a Disney outsider would understand the world showcase part-they didn't show any of the attractions there!

I in no way mean this to be condescending but you all do realize they are actors, right? They are performing lines from scripts that probably went through fifteen different levels of approval by Disney marketing bigshots. Even so, I agree parts of it are pretty annoying. I would love to see the outtakes - the stuff that got screwed up or wasn't planned. That might be interesting. I agree with the Brit who mentioned the fast editing, which makes my head spin, too. Did anyone else notice the "Mom" character occasionally slips out of her American accent? That is what I watch for now when my kids insist seeing it AGAIN!

Exactly my thoughts too. Luke might be "annoying", but I figure Disney must have done the casting and script to try to appeal to the teens. Successfully? Maybe not. That being said, the character Luke does bug me as well. :)

Erin Cahill I definitely liked. The character role and actress. Wonder if she will be invited back to do another VP video after her recent (HOT!) photo spread in FHM magazine??
