I know i shouldn't have, but i just checked out my flight prices for 21 sep this year. I thought i got a good deal for £668 for 2 adults when i booked earlier this year... but just checked and they are now only £378 for 2 adults! (This is with My Travel, flight only) So if i had waited til now i could have saved £300!!
Does anyone else risk a last min deal? I think we might if we go next year!!

Wow! Or should that be Ouch!

I always through flights got more expensive nearer the time as it's the early seats that are discounted... maybe I was misinformed!

I'm tempted to do a last minute next year but the sensible part of me likes to book up in advance... just in case! I think I'd rather buy the flight early and then wait to get a hotel, as there are so many more hotel rooms availble compared to seats on flights...

Hi

If there were just 2 of us going and we could travel outside school holidays, I would definately 100% wait until last minute, but with 7 of us in party, I can't risk it. I also saw flights for 150 pounds each on lastminute.com, travelling on various dates in september. A bit sickening when you look at next years prices.

Its just crazy isnt it! I think we will risk it next time, as there seems to be a lot of availabilty in september and without being tied to school hols or anything this is a really good time to go!

Has anyone ever seen such cheap flights around early dec or late jan? i would be so tempted to get the extra trip out of my AP if i could find flights that cheap!

With scheduled that is usually the case (has to be VERY last minute to get the best deals I think, as in days before travel) but for charter last minute is best for cheaper flights.
I was tempted to book last minute but I just can't bring myself to. Bf needs to book holidays off work, I want to make ADRs well in advance and the free dining plan has to be booked by November so our dates would be set in stone. I know the chance of no flights at all is slim but this holiday is a really big deal to us and I don't want to take any chances.

yeah, thats true, we wouldnt have got free dining if i had waited til the last min! Thats made me feel better! And i definately wouldnt have got all the ADR's i booked months in advance! So although i would have quite a bit of money i wouldnt have got these 'extras'!!

We got a 99 pound flight with First Choice last September the day before we travelled. They also threw in First Class upgrade for 40 pound each!!!!!

You can get good deals but you need to be flexible with dates, i.e. a couple of days either side.

Have fun

I saw the Mytravel prices from Newcastle last Saturday morning at £251 per adult, talked my wife round by dinnertime and booked on Saturday evening for £221 per adult. Seats on the same flight with Mytravel are now back up to £316 each.

This doesn't usually happen to me, I'm usually at the wrong end of a bargain!!
