HUMPHREY THE BEAR?!?!?!
bb031a.jpg

Am I crazy because he is my favorite Disney character? I have loved him since I saw that cartoon "In the Bag" when I was little. He is so funny and adorable. Does anyone know if any WDW parks have Humphrey stuff or if there is even a character of him that walks around anywhere? I am kind of disappointed he isn't very popular. Here is some info. I found about him:

Humphrey Bear lives in the Brownstone National Park in the USA, along with the other bears and J. Audubon Woodlore, the Ranger. He is not blesses with great intelligence and often does things which he is expressly forbidden from doing. He is often caught red-handed or, just as often, in situations which are not what they appear. Therefore the park Ranger Woodlore, is often scolding him. He is not very well liked by his fellow bears and this seems to cause him some difficulty concerning just how to act.

In his first film (Hold that Pose, 1950), Humphrey is the antagonist for Goofy. In his second film (Rugged Bear, 1953), he is pitted against Donald Duck. His next film sees the introduction of his new co-host for the rest of Humphrey's films: Ranger Woodlore. They made 5 films together, with some having guest appearances by Donald Duck. This was between 1954 and 1956. Then all went silent around Humphrey, until he reappeared in the 'Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers' episode "Bearing up Baby" where he essentially was a main character.

Humphrey was voiced by Jack Hannah and later by Jimmy MacDonald (who reprised the role for "Bearing Up Baby").

The films Humphrey Bear appeared in:
- "Hold that Pose", 1950 (unnamed bear)
- "Rugged Bear", 1953 (named Humphrey)
- "Grin and Bear it", 1954
- "Bearly Asleep", 1955
- "Beezy Bear", 1955
- "Hooked Bear", 1956
- "In the Bag", 1956
- "Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers" episode "Bearing Up Baby", 1989

I remember humphrey the bear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He used to pick up garbage and put it in a bag
But supposedly he was bad at it so Donald would scorn him :umbrella:

Haha! I LOVE that cartoon with the bags. He would bump butts with the other bears in the park and he ate all those fish. I vaguely remember it from when I was little, but he is my favorite!

Humphrey is figured very prominently at the Wilderness Lodge. Among it's many novelties is a totem pole outside the gift shop that includes Humphrey. WL guests (well, DISers anyway) are known to pat his nose to "let the magic begin".

There are many Humph souvies in the WL Mercantile, or you could check with merchandising.

Sounds like a WL stay is in order!

Oh yes I love ALL Disney bears and Humphrey is such a cutie!!! :flower:

disneygoofis right Ole Humph is all over the Wilderness Lodge.I got a beanie and a little plastic figure of him there. Here's a link to the totem with your favorite bear and freinds! http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/wl79.jpg

House of Mouse plays a lot of the old Humphrey cartoons (as well as others). My son loves to watch that show & I love reliving the memories of watching them when I was his age.

Humphrey has always been the "mascot" of the W/L. I have a hat with his likeness on it that i got there.

"Pickin' papers up and put 'em in the bag!!!" I LOVE HUMPRHEY!!!! My kids think I'm nuts - when that old favorite comes on TV, I dance around the house and sing the song... I wish I could remember all the words right now, cause it's making me crazy!!!!

That's my all-time favorite Disney short! Bump! Bump! :goodvibes

I enjoyed listening to that again! Thanks for the link :wave2:

I remember this cartoon and Humphrey well....

I always stop by the Wilderness Lodge to give his nose a rub... well that and eat....
