if there is something that marks a mile through FW? I'm used to doing the treadmill for 2 miles a day and don't want to loose that level and have to start over again. It may not sound like much, but it's helped me loose 40 lbs this year so it's a 1/2 hour/day that i'd really like to keep up...or, if there's a fitness center at wilderness lodge-can we use it?:goodvibes

Its just about 1 mile on the trail from FW to WL, and a very nice walk, as well.

If you walk Big Pine Drive around the loop, it's 1.45 miles by my bike odometer. Starting at say, 1100 loop going clockwise around the road leading to 1600-1900 and back to 1100. That loop.

Also a nice run would be the exercise trail that runs from FW to WL. Someone can probably chime in and let you know the exact distance, but if I'm not mistaken...its just over a mile.

Thanks everyone, I will check out those places in a few weeks...can't wait!

An old FW map we had showed 1 mile from Outpost to Trail's End.

My husband has lost 134 pounds by running so when we were at the fort, he was jogging all over the place. I'm sure you don't need as many miles as he did, but he said that his favorite thing to do was to run to the Outpost and then go back by the cabins. He'd also run to the Settlement and then over to WL. We were in the 1400 loop. On his long day, he did all of it. He didn't really keep track of mileage because it was vacation but he said it was kind of neat to just run around all of the loops.

He also pushes our son who is 3. I don't know if you are going to push someone but here's something interesting that my son did and DH went along with it. He decided that he was a pirate and he wanted DH to stop and ask CM's if they had treasure. They actually did it a few times and he came home with some cool stuff.

DH says FW is a great place for runners and walkers.

walking on an environmentally controlled treadmill is different than "real life" walking so you can't really measure mile for mile, wear a pedometer into the parks and you'll find you've walked plenty of "miles". Just take a vacation and do the best you can based on how you "feel" and not how "far" you've gone.

BTW, I'm down 75 lbs. and counting! Ya, that's how I know! IMO, you'll do more good by watching your food intake than by watching how many miles you log while at WDW! Have a great time.

Thanks everyone for the great advice. I think DH and I are going to look into the FW to WL thing. Congrats to all those we have lost all that weight...way to go!:goodvibes
