Hubby and I just realized that our luggage is over 13 years old and it is NOT in good shape.. We want new luggage that will last but don't want to pay $300 for it.. Anyone have any tips?
I don't have a matched luggage set, but I have a three of the exact same piece that I got at Costco. The quality is fantastic, the price was great, I love my Costco luggage.
TJ Max is a great place. Big Lots has luggage. I also agree that the rolling duffle bag is a great idea. Once it is empty its easy to store. Plus it seams like I can put more in the duffle. Just make sure not to over load it because you don't want to pay the over weight charge! We have used ours for the past 6 years and it still looks brand new.
Those rolling duffels from Costco look great! DH and I have rolling duffels that we got for $20 each at Marshalls, and while we love the overall bag type, the fabic of the bag isn't holding up, and we only used them as carry-on. I'll have to check into those the next time I make a Costco run. Thanks!!!
I got a 3 piece set at kohls last year for 99 dollars. It was regularly 249. Its a big rolling case, a carryon and a tote. It's american tourester (sp). I love it! It has like a sateen lining and the big piece is expandable. I got it when they were having one of there sales. It retailed for 249 their regular price was 199 and the sale price was 99. They have TONS and TONS of luggage. From nike duffles to samasanite (sp).
We have a combination of Samsonite and Delsey luggage.
I found a lot of the Samsonite pieces at Ross, Marshall's and TJ Maxx.
The Delsey pieces are mostly from Dillard's. I haven't looked recently, but we got our luggage 75% off. They used to have discontinued pieces marked WAY down pretty frequently, so you might check if you have a Dillard's near you.
I recently bought a Samsonite 25" Aspire (I think). The cheapest I found it on-line or locally was $116 plus tax or shipping or both. But then I did a retailmenot.com search and found a code for the samsonite site and got the bag for $87.53, no tax or shipping and I had it in a couple days!
We use a rolling duffel similar to the ones posted previously. We've used the typical luggage and find that the duffel is just so much easier and seems like it can hold more than the square rolling luggage. I also like that the duffel is light weight when it's empty, you get more bang for your buck when checking luggage.
it also takes up very little storage space when not in use.
Thanks everyone for all your ideas.. I love the rolling duffle bag idea.. We usually have a lot of stuff.. but, I would like to just check in 1 bag and have the rest be carryon's..
