Does anyone know what RCI timeshares are near Disney?

A friend has a timeshare with RCI. She tells me that she can get me great rates on last minute reservations - I would just have to pay the fee plus a guest fee (50 or $100).

Has anyone done anything like this? Does anyone know what resorts might be an option that would have 3 bedrooms with kitchen/laundry? She is busy this week and I am anxious to know LOL.

Thanks

There is almost zero chance that you'll get a three bedroom last minute RCI deal. There's a pretty good chance you might get a 2br, depending on the time of year.

I would just wait and see what she finds available and pick one from there. Realize that they book up fast, though, so be prepared to grab one.

It may not be as simple as your friend makes it sound.

She might be talking about Last Calls (inventory available within 45 days of check-in). But these are not available for holiday weeks. Off season, yes. 3 bedrooms are harder to come by, too. RCI's Guest Certificate fee is $59.00.

What dates are you looking for? I've seen 1 and 2 bedroom availability at Wyndham Cypress Palms, Sheraton Vistana, Westgate Lakes, and Vacation Village at Parkway.

Yes, that might be it - I thought she said something about 60 days. I would be OK with 2 bedrooms but would prefer 3 bedrooms.

No dates in mind right now. Just got back :thumbsup2 but dying to go back. We got annual passes to the disney water parks during our trip since it was cheaper than 1 day passes (we went 4 times!) so if we could find an inexpensive yet nice place to stay, we could maybe swing it late spring/early summer.

Thanks for the input of the hotels. It sounds like if I will want one I'll have to make a decision asap so I would love to be able to have some idea of places that are OK and others that I just wouldn't do. So, I'll research the names provided.

It wasn't a Last Call, but I booked an Extra Vacation (further out and higher priced than Last Calls) at Bonnet Creek through RCI for May - it was $458 before tax for a 2 bedroom. By the time I paid the tax, it was around $500. Of course, I didn't have to buy a Guest Certificate because I'm an RCI member. There are a couple of Bonnet Creek 1 bedrooms for May for just over $400 and a couple of two bedrooms for early summer for around $500 - not a bad price.

The Last Calls just went up last week. 1 bedrooms are $259 and 2 bedrooms are $284 now. Here's some more resorts available on Last Call that I see right now (I just checked the website for you). Westgate Vacation Villas, The Fountains, Villas at Summer Bay, Orlando Sunshine Resort, Silver Lake, Grand Lake Resort, High Point World, Orbit One Vacation Villas, Orlando International Resort Club, Barefoot in the Keys at Old Town, Bryan's Spanish Cove, Celebration World, and Cypress Pointe Grande Villas.

great - thanks! More places to research. Fun to dream during this cold rainy week :) $500 isn't bad at all but we will have to do cheaaaaaap if we are going to go again.

Thanks!

Orange Lake Resort is the best RCI resort in the area. They have 2,3 and 4 bedroom units but they will be hard to come by.

Orlando Sunshine and the Fountains are both Bluegreen/RCI resorts and we have stayed in both of them. The Fountains, in fact is our favorite of any Bluegreen resort we've used! Its gorgeous and very close to WDW. Will take you about 10 minutes to get there, if that. Orlando Sunshine is much smaller and is at the opposite end of I-Drive on Del Verde Way(one block over from International Drive). Its right down the road from Prime Outlets(used to be Belz) and closer to Universal than WDW. Its also a very nice resort, just small. My DD's and I took a girls only trip in Feb. and this is where we stayed as we couldn't get a room at the Fountains for the length of our stay. We have also stayed at Orange Lake and didn't like it. Everything was clean, rooms were nice, but we didn't get the "homey" and welcoming feeling we get when we've stayed at the other two. Orange Lake is huge. It is fairly close to WDW though. We stayed at West Gate the summer of 08 and it was ok. Again, clean nice rooms, but just didn't like the atmosphere. I would stay at any of these again if it meant I could go to WDW, though. The other resorts I don't much about other than driving past them occasionally.
Hope you find something and have a great trip!:goodvibes

Not all would agree with that. Some like it. Others like us didn't care for it. Some of our favorites are Mystic Dunes (not available from RCI), Sheraton Vistana, and Summer Bay. We stayed at the Fountains and it was fine, though a little less convenient location wise. We're at Wyndham Bonnet Creek right now and like it very much.

There are many nice resorts in the area. Tripadvisor would have reviews of many of them. www.tug2.net is the best site for timeshare reviews, but there is a modest annual fee to read the reviews. Well worth it if you use timeshares often.
