A Walt Disney World bus was involved in a crash Sunday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

  • SUV hit Disney World bus
  • 19 perople were on bus
  • Bus driver taken to ORMC
  • SUV driver taken to Dr. Phillips Hospital
The crash happened at about 6:30 p.m. along Osceola Parkway and Buena Vista Drive, near Disney's Blizzard Beach and the All-Star Resort area.

Troopers said a Disney World bus was traveling westbound on the off ramp from Osceola Parkway when a black SUV hit the front left side of it.

Witnesses told troopers that the driver of the SUV, identified as 34-year-old Ritesh Bhagani, ran a red light.

Bhagani was taken to Dr. Phillips Hospital with minor injuries.

The bus driver, 47-year-old Collins Yakep, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Orlando Regional Medial Center.

According to the FHP report, 19 people were on the bus at the time of the crash.

The crash is under investigation and charges are pending against the driver of the SUV, FHP said.

With both drivers being injured, I'm surprised there are no injuries of passengers being reported since they obviously would not be wearing seatbelts like the drivers.

First, hope the driver is OK, that's for sure.

WDW will get attorney representation letters from 37 people who claim to have been on that bus. They will all have neck/back injury and all be going to a chiropractor.

Gosh, I hope the drivers are ok. Looks awful.

Accidents in and around the world are so common though, we haven't had a single trip where we haven't seen an accident of some kind :(

With all the construction around property it is imperative that everyone driving their own vehicles be cautious and alert. We drive our own car and are always as careful as possible. So many people who are unfamiliar with the area, very distracted, driving rental cars, plus all the buses. It's a recipe for disaster. I'm glad everyone is alive after that crash.

The thing we really noticed on our last trip was all the cars cutting off the buses--way too common.

In fact there was probably someone standing there to prevent others from boarding after the accident.

Having driven that one many times myself, that picture makes it look much farther than it actually is.
It measures about 190 feet away. Having gone through that intersection thousands, yes, that's correct, of times, it didn't sink in that the light was so far away. Guess I just knew where it was.

If I only had a nickle................
Perhaps, but it won't matter. They will still come. Believe me.
They can try, but there is an on-board procedure administered by the driver, but in this case probably by a manager, after any bus incident with passengers on board.
