Does anyone know the order aand age of the dvc resorts

I am trying to fiqure out how old each dvc resort is. I have only stayed in vwl and it is relatively new. I will be staying in okw soon and believe it is the oldest. I am trying get the resort timeline. Thanks

I believe OKW was 1992 and then BWV in late 1996 or early 1997, then VWL in 99 or 2000, BCV was being built in 2001, I think it was ready for summer of 02. SSR opened 5/04. I don't really have any idea of a timeline for VB or HH.

HH opened early in 1996 (I bought in Aug. 1995) My use year was Feb 1996.

As a member since 1994 there was no OKW, it was DVC, OKW came later. The theme was always Key West, but the resort was the DVC resort.

OKW was always OKW

The resort that is now OKW was originally just the Disney Vacation Club. I have been a member for 12 years, & we bought DVC not OKW at that time. What is now OKW opened in late 1991. Our friends became members & stayed there for their anniversary in December 1991.

I originally owned at OKW. It WAS called OKw then, Nov 1995, but we also got some liturature around that time calling it "Conch Flats" ?? I still have those brochures somewhere. It was weird, seemed to not catch on?

The area around the Hospitality House has always been known as "Conch Flats". Check out this pic:

DVC changed the name to OKW because they added BWV in the area.

don't you remember - it was horrible. they forgot to tell the guest staying there....So people went to the parks on a bus called DVC - then they tried to find it for the return trip. but now it was called OKW.....

I though it was funny to listen to the tales that the bus drivers were telling...

however I would hated to be one of those guest.

besides you papers (even now) say DVC (not OKW). DVC is II for it, because when it changed to II it was DVC.

I have the same dates except for:

OKW which I had as 10/7/91 but the Disney Fact Book available from Disney Investor Relations says December. I need to check my reference for OKW.

BWV which I had as 6/30/96 but the Disney Fact book has as October? No agreement there.

SSR which I had as 5/17/04 and the Disney Fact Book has as May as well.

My bad. The correct date (from the calendar) for SSR's opening is 5/27/04, not 4/27/04.

It does state 10/1/91 is the day Disney Vacation Club begins selling Ownership Interests.
