I just got back from WDW and love the tress that are in bloom right now. They were pink and white trees both with gorgeous full blooms that I swear some of the resemble a mouse! Some blooms were three puffs of flowers, two ears and a head. ::MickeyMo I am not kidding, my friends saw the resemblance as well. I asked several CM at Epcot and at the POFQ resort and no one knew. Please tell me someone has noticed these trees. I wish I had thought to take a picture, but alas I did not.

Could it be crepe myrtle?

They're in bloom now and if I squint I see a hidden Mickey... :rotfl:

That's it! Those are the trees that WDW has all over. I swear WDW plants them on purpose becuase there is a faint resemblance to ::MickeyMo Since I have never seen them before, I doubt they grow in the North East. Just means I will have to visit WDW/FL more often! :cool1:
Thank you!

Crape myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica) is hardy to Zone 6b, so if sited in a protected area, you could probably give it a go in RI. But I hear they're messy (although they ARE pretty), and in some of the winters we've had around here, you'd risk losing it.

I have a dwarf red crepe myrtle and a regular lavendar crepe myrtle that surive the winter just fine here on Long Island. They are considered hardy to zone 6 and I cover them in burlap for the winter. I protect them from ocean breezes as I am on the south shore of the island.
