Does anyone know much about Geico?

We hit a deer on the interstate Sunday. Our van is beat up pretty bad and we are waiting for the insurance adjuster to come look at it. I am in a panic since we leave for Disney two weeks from tomorrow. We decided it would be a great idea to switch insurance companies to save money last month. We went from a company we knew well to Geico. I would love to know if anyone has had any experience dealing with them. Also, does anyone know how long it typically takes for an insurance adjuster to come look at your vehicle?

I had Geico a few years ago when my car was stolen. They were fantastic! I opened the claim the day it was stolen and approximately 45 days later the claim was closed and I had my money. (Since the car was stolen they had to wait 30 days to make sure it was really gone, or something like that.) They were very easy to deal with and were very nice.

The only dealings I've had with Geico was a small accident where the other driver was at fault. She had Geico and they paid right away, in fact I thinbk I remember that they cut us a check when the adjuster was at the house.
Hope you have a good experience with this bad situation.

We have had Geico for three years now and I LOVE them. Had a claim just last year (almost to the day). I was T-boned and our Land Rover was TOTALED and I was pretty injured. Even though it wasn't my fault, it took less than 5 working days for my car to be evaluated as totaled and have a check in my pocket. They even cut a separate check for extras that I just had installed or put on the car (tires (less than a week old), a full tank of gas (5 minutes before the crash), my Disney family stickers (arrived in the mail about a week before), GPS). The PIP had my medical bills (80%) paid within a couple of weeks. They were amazing.

We have had Geico for the past 8 years and love them. They have excellent customer service. I would never dream of even searching for better rates because already we pay a good rate and I know what we have with them. FANTASTIC. :thumbsup2

GEICO has THE best customer service!!!

I have had Geico for at least 10 years, and I have absolutely no problem with them what so ever. I was in a major pile up a few years ago, they totaled my car and I had check in hand in less than a week.

It may also help if you call your adjuster and let them know your concerns and see if there is anything that they can do to help. They really are good people.

I have had Geico for at least 13 years and I love them. My car was broken into in December and they had someone out the next day to replace my window. My DD was in an accident a few years ago and had basic coverage on an old car. The other person was at fault and Geico helped us fight her insurance to get the repair costs not the cost to total the car out. I will never change insurance companies. They are great to work with.

My parents have been with GEICO for about 30 years, back when it was only open to military and government employees. They've been consistently fantastic! I wrecked my parents' Saab (one-car accident, my fault) when I was 15, and they didn't raise the premiums.

Just recently, my dad was hit by someone who ran a red light--but there's an ongoing dispute about fault, because the other woman swears she had the green. GEICO handled it as a not-at-fault. Because we're full-time RVers and couldn't sit around and wait for a mailed check, the damage adjuster cut us a manual check for the damages at our initial appointment. They stayed on top of the shop, making sure everything was done both quickly and properly. Very professional service.

Go online to the Claims Center and find out who your liability adjuster and damage adjuster are. The liability adjuster is sort of the coordinator for the whole process. Call the damage adjuster and make arrangements and if you have any problems at all, call the liability adjuster.

Sorry this happened to you, but you're really in fabulous hands.

Actually according to market surveys, that qualification would go to Amica (which is also the company I have).

As for the question at hand, I don't think there will be an issue with getting GEICO to handle the claim end of it, in most states they only have 3 - 5 business days to review the damages. That said, I would be more then concerned that if you plan on taking your van on the trip that the repairs won't be complete within the two weeks.

We hit a deer in our Volvo (actually ran over it - it was hit by truck in front of us) and it took about 1.5 weeks just for the repairs and there wasn't much cosmetic damage, mostly just a lot of remove and replace. In total from the accident to the date the car was finished being repaired was 14 days.

That's a good point. OP, do you have rental car coverage? We have an SUV with a towing package, since we pull a travel trailer. GEICO got us into a Suburban, fully decked out, with the HD tow package. Unlimited mileage, permission to drive it in all 50 states, instructions to call if we wanted to go into Mexico or Canada. So if you have rental car coverage, tell GEICO what you need and they'll get you into something comparable to your van that you can take on vacation.

Yikes!!! I know our radiator is busted and our transmission light is on. We have not opened the hood in fear that we won't be able to get it shut again, so who knows what else might be wrong with it. The front passenger side is going to need a lot of body work also. Thanks for heads up on the timeline. I think I might have been a bit naive to think it might be able to be repaired in two weeks.

Well, I think they are the WORST company on the face of the earth and I would never choose them as an insurance provider and I think they should be put out of business.

We have had 2 really bad experiences where one of their drivers hit us and they did nothing. They even got one of the drivers to tell the judge that THEY said we were at fault, the judge set her straight very quickly about the law and her insurance company. They never did pay anything, don't know how they got away with that one. Luckily, the damage wasn't that bad to our vehicle.

We've been with GEICO for over 20 years, so obviously we like them a lot. Both DH & I have had good driving records but we've had two significant "events" in the last 4 years. One time I was towing our travel trailer and hit the side of a restaurant, tore off their small awning and about 20-ft of my roof:scared1: GEICO was on the spot quickly, despite the fact that it was July 4th weekend. Then, last spring my DH was towing the trailer(hmmm, I sense a trend..) when it got out of control and flipped both the trailer and the SUV:scared1:. That was a major MAJOR wreck; everything was totalled and we had over $30,000 in medical bills. ALL of which GEICO paid promptly.

I feel bad for those who have not had good experiences with GEICO, but I have to say we are more than satisfied. They have treated us very well in times of trouble.

We've had them a few years- we switched after an accident where our previous insurance agent was less than helpful with things that should have been covered but she wouldn't help us deal with the company. We switched to Geico and they have been awesome to work with. I originally set the insurance up wrong, with my name as the primary when the car is in DH's name. He was at the DMV to register the car and had to switch himself to the primary position- he called Geico from his cell and they switched it and had new everything faxed to the DMV in record time. What could have been a major hassle given our experiences with the DMV, was smooth and easy. I love them for that!
