Does anyone know if there's a fire ban at the Fort right now?

We're going to be arriving on Friday night and I'm thinking about buying a fire pit before we come but I don't want to do it if there's a fire ban. I'll just save my money for Disney and buy it another time. Is anyone there right now that can tell me if there's a fire ban? Thanks! :)

You were never allowed to have an open fire pit at the Fort in the past. If that's changed, I don't know anything about it. I did see some sites this past weekend where there was an open fire pit in use, but I think that's against Fort rules. There were NWS red flag warnings for Orlando this weekend because of the cold front and low humidity, but I don't think there was a fire ban.

We used to have a small Coleman contained portable fire pit years ago that was nice. Get something like that.....

We were at Ft. Wilderness October 9-17 and there was a sign posted at the comfort station announcing a burn ban the whole time we were there.

When we camped at the Fort this time last year, we did bring our own fireplace, but it had a wire/mesh top, and we were told that, that type was okay to have there, but without the wire/mesh top, no way. No open flames allowed according to the personel at the front desk. But having a 10 foot flame come out of the BBQ is just fine and dandy! :confused3

I might just wait if there's a ban right now. Thanks all! :thumbsup2

I think that type is okay. However, do we want to spend the money and use up the space in the RV and then not be able to use it?

My thoughts exactly! It will have to wait until the next camping trip...more money for Disney!

Good to know. However, it can change on a daily basis. Correct?

I don't believe the ban is lifted very often. I the past few years, I believe the ban has been in place each trip we have taken. This is the dry time of the year, and it won't be lifted anytime soon.
