Does anyone know how much it costs to be hooked up to city water?

Does anyone know how much it would cost to be hooked up to city water?

Right now we have well water. We don't drink it and use bottled water instead. Our water leaves stains in the tub, toilets, dishwasher. We now want to upgrade to city water.

Anyone go from Well to city? How much did it cost? How long did it take?

Ok, we went from well water to city...however the city came through our neighborhood with the water main. We granted them an easement and we didn't have to pay for hook up.

We got off easy and only had to pay $1100.00, to a plumbing company that did our hook up.

Other people had to add an extra $1000.00 just for the connection fee (included water meter), to the water company, in addition to the plumbers hired for the hook up.

Do you know where your nearest water main is? I think they charge by the foot. Our main was put right through our yard. So it wasn't too far to the house.

It could run you into the 10,000+ depending on where the main is & *if* you could tap into it.

You may want to consider getting some water treatment equipment instead , look into your local water treatment companies, they can come out and most of them they will give you a free analysis.
I'm not talking about the equipment that you place in the faucet or under the sink, I'm talking about equipment that goes directly into the main valve.
That would be something I would consider before I switched to city water, city water can get expensive. I wish I had my own well !
A good water treatment company , should be able to analyze your water and tell you exactly what's in it and what the treatment should be, and if possible you should get more than one estimate if possible.
