Hello,

I am looking to purchase a resale. Can anyone tell me what the beginning and end dates would be for each of the DVC resorts... ie: if I buy into a Beach Club Villa, how many years can I expect to own it? Thank you in advanced for your help!

Animal Kingdom Villas: 1/31/2057
Saratoga Springs: 1/31/2054
All others: 1/31/2042

The only DVC resort where any owners had a full 50 years is OKW. The resort opened in October, 1991 and ownership there ends January 31, 2042.

VB opened in October,1995, HH opened in March, 1996, BWV opened in July, 1996, VWL opened in November, 2000, BCV opened in July, 2002 and ALL of these resorts also end on January 31, 2042 just like OKW.

SSR opened in May, 2004 and ends on January 31, 2054 (just under a full 50 years) and AKV will open in September, 2007 and ends 49+ years later on January 31, 2057.

Regardless when you purchase and regardless whether it is by resale or direct from DVC, the resorts end on the dates mentioned - unless DVC offers some sort of extension in the future. Other than speculative dreaming on internet boards, there has been no suggestion from Disney that this is even a consideration and it's also unlikely that any decision has been made regarding and extension or how the points/reservation sysytem will be managed during the last few years - especially regarding banking and borrowing.

Stay tuned! :)

Im slightly confused. If you buy AKV now, you would get 2007 UY points now, right? Then you would get points up to the 2056 UY for a total of 50 years, isnt that how it works?

I don't think Doc is referring to the number of years' worth of points you receive, just the period of time in which to use them. If AKV opens on 9/1/07 and the contract ends on 1/31/2057, that timeframe is 7 months short of being a full 50 years.

Yes, you would receive points 50 times, but whether you could use them all is another story. Those with a December Use Year wouldn't get their 2056 points until two months before the contract ends. There are rules which allow borrowing of points, but realistically there are likely to be more points in circulation in those last couple of years than there will be rooms available to meet the demand.

If DVC plans to enforce the 1/31/2057 date as a hard cap on the final member reservations, they may have to resort to the lottery system in the last couple of years to insure equitable distribution of dates and rooms.

Now if only we all could be guaranteed of being there to see it. ;)
