We're leaving for Naples, FL on Tuesday and our villa will have a DVD player, so I thought instead of paying the ridiculous price of $10 for a hotel On Demand movie I could go buy a couple new ones that we haven't seen yet. Does anyone have suggestions for some fairly new movies? My DS is 17 and my DDs are 13 and 3.5 (so it doesn't matter what the rating is, if it's something I don't want my DD3 to see we can watch it late at night), we're mostly into comedies but will watch anything if it's a really good show.

Thanks! Heading to Best Buy tommorrow afternoon.

an extremely awesome movie to see is Sweeney Todd, if you dont mind bloody movies about singing barbers

If you haven't seen "Across the Universe" it's good, although a little difficult as the plot line is hard to follow.

Also, "Road Trip" with Robin Williams, "August Rush", and "Bridge to Terabithia" if you haven't seen it.

All of the "Lord of the Rings" movies...not new though... "I am Legend" if you like scary. All of the "Pirates of the Carribean" movies. Of course can't forget Harry Potter...those are for everyone. Most of these would be for the older kids....didn't see there was a little one...sry.

That's fine, my DD will watch about anything. She likes the first "Pirates" movie (second and third are a little gory), Austin Powers and Talledega Nights, but she doesn't understand it all (I guess that's why we let her watch them with us).

Great suggestions so far, I've been wanting to see August Rush and Sweeny Todd (wouldn't want either of my DDs to see that though), keep them coming!

Sweeney Todd is a good movie to watch, just not for your littlest DD. The blood looks extremely FAKE. I almost cried in some parts, but thats just me.

"Charlottes Web" (the one with Dakota Fanning)would be a good movie too!

I wouldn't even want my DD13 watching that. She watched a dubbed version of "Life is Beautiful" in school on Friday and she keeps getting nightmares.

When we went to WDW back in mid-February, we rented a condo (complete with a DVD player!) and we watched a movie almost every night. We have an extensive DVD collection and we brought many of our own DVDs (many of them Disney-themed - Finding Nemo, The Haunted Mansion, The Little Mermaid, etc.). As far as new movies go:

Your seventeen year old might enjoy "Juno" (was up for a few Academy Awards/Golden Globes this year). The thirteen year old might be right on the cusp for the film (the film does contain one minor sex scene, there is adult language, adult themes, etc., etc.).

I agree with the other posters who have mentioned "Enchanted"! Very cute, very Disneyesque. Will definitely get you in the mood for the most magical/happiest place on earth! I think that the film is suitable for all ages. In the same vein, many posters have mentioned "Alvin and the Chipmunks". Again, I feel this is appropriate for everyone.

Some older movies that might be fun (and have a vacation/road trip theme) are "National Lampoon's Vacation" (not for the 3 year old), "Planes Trains and Automobiles", and "Little Miss Sunshine".

I just got back and spent a ton. I bought "Enchanted", "August Rush", and "Sweeny Todd". My DH just bought "Walk Hard" last week so we haven't watched it yet, now we should be all set. I could have bought a whole lot more but I wouldn't allow myself to. I'll also let my DD3 pick out three or so movies she wants to watch down there, she's one to keep playing the same movie three times a day.

What about Sydney White, my DD (age 12) LOVES that movie. You're youngest MIGHT be able to watch it, it only has 1 or 2 bad words and they are mostly right in the middle...

I do not think Sweeney Tod is appropraite for a 13 year old but I guess that us because I didn't even like that one. Just so disgusting and brutal.
