Does anyone have one of the "quiet" dishwashers?

My original to the house, 1986 dishwasher just won't die, but I'd really like to replace it. It's very noisy and I'd love one of the "quiet" dishwashers that they advertise. Are they really quiet? How in the world do you know if you just see the model at the store?

I have a quiet one from three years ago. We have an open family room/kitchen so I thought it was necessary. You don't even realize its running. Sometimes you forget it is running and hear the water drain and my husband will be like did you hear something. It really is pretty quite I think compared to the old dishwashers.

I have a Bosch - love it!!! I don't know if it was sold as "quiet" but I can hardly hear it - it just becomes a small background noise, but nothing like the old one I had.

Oh my God...I have one and love it. My last one, you could hear a mile down the road. We tried to only run it when we were leaving the house. You couldn't watch TV, sleep, concentrate. Our new one, sometimes I have to go to the kitchen to assure myself its really on. Once you get one, you'll wonder how you ever did without it. when you go to the store, just look for one that features "quiet" run. You won't be disappointed.

We have Fisher & Paykel Dishdrawers and they're pretty quiet. Especially nice when you're entertaining and people hang out in the kitchen area.

We have a Maytag Quiet series, it's not as quiet as I had hoped. We were going to get a Bosch, but I changed my mind at the last minute. I now wish we had bought the Bosch.

In my last house I had THE BEST dishwasher, a Fridgidaire so quiet you couldn't hear it run, and it go things SOOOOO clean!

Now I've got a high end GE. It's OK, doesn't get the dishes as clean and I hate the layout. Come tax return time it's being replaced.

BTW--if you are in the Orlando area and want a pretty quiet dishwasher that's only got about a year of use on it, PM me in the spring.

We have a Meile...it's weird you really don't know it's running sometimes. I have been leaning against it and suddenly wondered why I felt warm!

We have a good Kenmore dishwasher that's relly quiet. Our old one drove us out of the room. We can have a conversation in the kitchen while this one is running.

I replaced my Kitchenaid with the Kenmore and I am very pleased.

I have a Bosch and it is running right now. Sounds like background noise. I hate it though. Doesn't do a great job cleaning. Would rather have loud and clean than what I have.

We don't buy my dad does. The only way you know it is on is by watching the lights run through the cycles on the control panel. It is great!

Wow, WDWMom, wonder if you have a dud? Mine even takes the tarnish off the copper bottoms of my Revereware pots and pans. The first time I washed one I couldn't figure out what had happened to it - until I realized it was CLEAN!!!! :rotfl:

Our dishwasher is completely silent, although he does hum from time to time, mainly on his drying up cycle.

My Bosch is so quiet I can hardly hear it is running. In fact sometimes, people open it up to put something in it, and don't realize its open.

LOVE IT!

THe other poster must have a DUD bosch because my stuff always comes out incredibly clean.

These are THE BEST out there - well worth every penny!!

When we bought our house 3 years ago, the house inspector thought it was broken because he couldn't hear it running. I would highly recommend getting one.

I have a Kenmore Elite and it's pretty quiet. I've had it for 4-1/2 years with no complaints.

Mine is really quiet.....when it's not running! I have a 2 or 4 hour delay on it, so I can set it for when I go to bed or leave the house for work, I actually can't hear it then, so it must be quiet. :)

My DB has a Bosch and loves it, I considered it when our Kitchenaid went belly-up, but opted for a Kenmore instead. It is *very* quiet, just a little louder than DB's Bosch, but it holds a lot more and just works better, IMO.
