Or has bought furniture from this retailer? Is their furniture, customer service and warantees any good? Does anyone have any experience with them??? Do they back their furniture?? I am interested in a livingroom I saw online.....and would love input... :)

Or are they just big buck items and can get the same stuff elsewhere cheaper?

my parents always buy Ethan Allen, and the furniture is really nice quality and they;ve had some pieces for EVER and they are still in wonderful condition! I'd reccommend them!!!:D

I've always bought all my furniture from Ethan Allen and it has lasted VERY well. My bedroom set is 8 years old, and other than a couple of scratches, still perfect. My dining room is 7 years old, and still perfect!!! My old living room/family room couch is 6 years old, and does show some wear, but it was used EVERYDAY for 6 years. It's in the basement now, and my 1 year old sectional is doing GREAT, it's just SOOO comfortable!!!! My living room, I'm in the process of replacing with Ethan Allen, I just haven't gotten that far yet!!! It's basically the only furniture store I shop in, except for Pottery Barn Kids for my kids furniture!!!! I've spent so much money in that store, my husband says we should buy stock!!! I've never had a problem with anything, actually never had to envoke a warranty!! My only problem was an ottoman I ordered to go with my sectional came in the wrong fabric. Well, they rushed the new ottoman, and I only had to wait 4 weeks for that one!! My only real complaint about Ethan Allen, is that it takes SO LONG to get my stuff!!! Usually around 12 weeks for me!!!

Yikes 12 weeks?? That is a long time? I have a friend here who hates the place. Says that the prices are overinflated, and she had horrible customer service...I love one of the sets I saw on the site though, and was interested in what others had to say.

Anyone else???

We have a house full of Ethan Allen furniture, partly because DH worked for the company for over 15 years! We live about 10 miles from the Vermont factory and have never had a problem with it! I love their furniture and it is very durable, even with 2 little kids!! :p

I've bought from Ethan Allen before. I bought a couch there once. I still have the couch, it held up beautifully, we use it in our rec room so its been through 2 kids.

What I didn't like about EA was its lousy service. I had this salesguy who was really not very helpful. His mind didn't seem to be on furniture, as he could not answer the questions we had about the couch. We ended up talking to his manager, who was very apologetic and ended up dealing with us from that point on. I would hope it was an isolated incident.

i don't know about other Ethan Allen stores, but the one by my house (on rt.9) is not the greatest. it's pricey, the people are RUDE and the furniture is "luck of the draw".

i don't know if that makes any sense....

Boston Interiors is MUCH better.

Snoopy my friend had the same issues with customer service...Just said that they were just not very friendly especially when she said she was just looking the first. She felt like she was followed around the store. We have a Jordan's near our house too, but I have not seen this set there :(

I will give them a try, because I like the set, maybe just freak incidences.

Anyone else have any opinions? Ideas?

Is Ethan Allen an eastern US thing or is it Nationwide? Was wondering if we moved too...I know Jordan's is basically a NE US store....

Wagamama that is the store I am thinking of going too.... :(

glo, i would go to the store. they have "good" days and "bad" days. go a couple of times (if possible)...

I've had good luck with Ethan Allen. They do have stores here in the Chicago area, so it's not just the east coast. I would go i there and look around at least. Maybe you'll find a good sales person to deal with. If not, you could always ask for the manager.

I just bought a Bedroom set there.

All of there stuff eventually goes on sale and if you get a salesperson you can work with, he/she will let you know when the piece you want goes on sale.

I do know that several years ago EA underwent a reorg where the new management tried to weed out some undesirable franchises and management.

My experiece at furniture stores is that the sales people drive me crazy!!! They all just chase you around! (Of course electronic stores are just as bad, I took off a guys head at HH Gregg the other day because I had been in the store 5 minutes and he was the 4th salesperson to "Harrass me!" I told him that I was NOT buying anything today and if they did not BACK OFF, when I did buy HH Gregg was out of the running!) I used to work in retail sales on commission, but these people are just too aggressive.

anyone else?? No one here works there????

Thanks to all who posted...

I do not own any of their furniture but I LOVE it! It's so pretty...unfortunately the price tag is a little too high for me since I'm just starting out on my own. My mom sells furniture, and she went with me to look there once. She said that it's really high quality. I think it would be a good investment. :)

Our entire living room is Ethan Allen.

EA has various "lines" of wood furniture. They each have a name. They won't discontinue anything without lots of notice. So you can buy a coffee table and 2 years later get an end table that matches perfectly. You can wait until each piece goes on sale.

All of their fabric items are custom made. You choose the sofa style and the fabric and that's why it takes so long. They are known for their meticulous matching of patterns. I have 2 tall back casual chairs with a huge floral pattern on them. The chairs are identical. My ottoman has a striped pattern that is perfectly matched all around. I chose a down-wrapped cushion for my stuffed chair. It's supposed to be a "curl up with a good book" chair, but it is so comfortable that it's usually a "oops, I fell asleep" chair.

My EA lady was so patient. We came back to her 2 years later and she created custom drapes to coordinate with our stuff. When we moved here, I called EA and they sent someone out to help me arrange the furniture and discuss the drapes. She had their seamstress shop cut them and re-do them for my new windows. Their installer put them up. He pleated the top of them so perfectly that I haven't moved them in 3.5 years.

I think EA still carries the line we have: Medallion with the bedermeir finish. It's 8 years later but I could order a china cabinet and it would match.

I think their EA Kids and outdoor furniture are not a good value.

I just redid our family room in Ethan Allen, except for the sofa which I chose from Leathercraft. Ethan Allen makes all their own furniture - they supposedly grow their own wood! So, this is not bulk stuff that you wll find anywhere else. I was told to expect about a 12 week wait but my items came 2-3 weeks early. I'm sure they tell all 12 weeks because it is custom furniture and if they are busy I'm sure they'll use every day of those weeks. I looked around A LOT and really could have chose from some others but I had a great sales person who came to my house and put it all together for me. One piece that did arrive, an accent table was knicked up and I really didn't care for it (I never got to see it on the floor, just went by catalog photo). They took it back, no questions. Everything I chose happened to be on sale but their sales are never big so it wasn't a huge savings. I do believe they are pricey but if you like their style furniture I would recommend them because their service is very good and they make everything themselves. GOOD LUCK!

my former MIL loved EA.......the "quality". She was frugal and would scrimp and sacrifice and wait til she could buy what she really wanted.......and that's what she wanted :)
It's nice stuff....her son (ex-DH) and I could never afford it  "back in the day".

:)
