Does anyone have an HDVcam?

My fiance has a Sony HDVcam. He brought it along on our Disney trip. I wanted to digitize the footage in my PC and edit it down into something I could send to family members.

I have Premiere Elements 2.0. I couldn't find an HD setting, so I downloaded the 3.0 trial version. What I have ingested looks really low quality. I can't figure out if I have a setting wrong, or if it is the trial version.

Dfi has a Mac and has no problem with the footage on there. But I was wondering what people use for the PC? Am I missing a codec or something?

What prgrams do you use if you have a PC?
Wondering if I should break down and buy Avid Xpress. We use Avid at work and I would feel much more at home.

I am under the impression that Elements does not do HD.

The 3.0 version does have an HDV capture setting. But after that I don't know what happens. I feel so lost outside of Avid. lol.

I just found a main setup button and changed it to HDV 1080i. That was probably my problem. I'll try capturing again in the morning.
