Does anyone else's DD have an American Girl Bitty Baby doll? I have a ?

My DD is 2 1/2 and one of her Christmas presents from Santa was a Bitty Baby from American Girl. I think the doll is beautiful but DD always undresses all of her dolls. When she took the pajamas off this doll, we noticed that on the side of her neck where the cloth body meet the plastic head, there are two thick pieces of string, about 4-5 inches long, that appear to be tied together. I was just wondering if everyone's dolls are like this and if so, does anyone know why?

I think my daughter's dolls have that too, if I remember correctly. I have no idea why though.

Yes, DD's doll has the strings on the neck.

My dd has Nellie & Hallie. They, too, have that string. I don't know why...

The ties are there so that if you need to send it back for a new head they can do that. We have sent 2 back for new heads!
