Does anyone else think that FRIENDS was one of the most stupid shows ever on TV?

Friends was OK. I watched it occasionally because I enjoyed the witty dialogue and some of the stars are quite good IMO. But I didn't watch it religiously and it certainly didn't bother me. I just didn't turn it on.

As for the hype, I've seen this before for other shows and of course the more popular they are, the more hype they get. Friends was almost always in the top 10.

I agree...stupid show! I'm glad it's over because we don't have to see anymore of those commercials, I must have seen that commercial for the series finale about 29735972389572935 times. Sometimes I'd be in the room when my mom was watching and I never thought it was funny.

I can understand not liking a show, but being glad it is over just because you don't like it, is something I do not understand. No one has ever been forced to watch it as far as I know. There are plenty of things on TV I don't like, but I'm not hoping they will be cancelled. After all if they are on someone must like them.

Put me in the group on haters. I'm not a big fan of sitcoms to begin with, and I did watch the first season of Friends, but I just can't stand the stupidity/whining/general annoyance of the show.

The reason I'm glad that the whole thing is over is because of the way it was overpromoted/overdone. Did we really need a special dateline to say goodbye to friends? Did we really need announcements every 2 seconds to remind us that it's going away?

I'm probably one of the few in America who has never sat ans watched ans entire show of Friends. Frankly I have better things to do with my time than to live vicariously through others. Bye:wave2:

No. the stupidest show in history would be Seinfeld....Any show that has that many characters apparently devoted to being as annoying as humanly possible gets my vote.

Although...an argument could certainly be made for all of the "Vomit TV" that is out there now (such as "Fear Factor")

It took a lot of guts to post that question...:scared1:

I dare you to pose a question like that to the ClayNation :duck:

This wasn't the worst show ever by any stretch of the imagination, but the hype for the (awful) finale was ridiculous. This show jumped the shark ages ago and should have been gone way before now.

WOW--that's quite a statement--I really enjoy laughing at sitcoms, going to the movies, reading fiction--it's a shame you can't enjoy them, too---but have to describe that activity as "living vicariously through others"

I have to wonder why there are so many "Friends" haters. I have watched from the beginning and always been a fan. I think it is very sad that it is over. Maybe because I started watching as a teenager and now I'm almost thirty. I grew up with this show. As for the reality shows like Survivor and the Bachelor, I think they are absolute crap. We watch tv and go to movies for a silly escape from some of the ugly realities of life. Who wants to watch a reality show? Don't we live that everyday. For those who posted about where's the baby and what about this and what about that....who cares! Just see the humor in the show. Stop over-analyzing the plot line. What about the people on realty shows that leave their real families for months at a time.I know I'll get slammed for this post but oh well. I am a true "Friends" fan down to the end and I had to express my opinion on THE BEST TV SHOW EVER MADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:teeth:

Not at all. It was my favorite series since The Cosby Show when I was a child. I'll admit the last episode could have been better, but it still doesn't ruin the show for me. At least Ross And Rachel got back together. :D

It outlived it's prime many years ago.
It was the show that wouldn't die.
Think I have watched parts of it a few times. That was good enough. Seen one episode, you probably saw them all. ;)

But few TV shows are good. They a rare breed.

Yes, I do, I watched the first season, and than gave up, some of the storylines were a bit much.....course they said that about All in The Family.

I never really paid all that much attention to Friends. But I saw the last 3 episodes, mainly because one of my friends likes the show. And my dad wanted to watch it last night just so he knew what everyone was talking about.

I never got the whole "Friends" obsession. I've seen a few episodes here and there and it didn't make much of an impression. I'm kind of glad to see it gone too, but then again, it will never REALLY be gone anyway.;)

I really liked friends. I haven't watched it religiously in years, but still enjoyed it. But, they are my age group. I just married and had kids sooner than they did, so "grew up" faster than they did/are. Anywho, I have theory on the Rachel/Ross baby plotline. Remember they left us hanging as to who was pg? I think it was suppose to be Monica. Courtney was probably really pg and they were going to write it in, but she miscarried in real life (she's miscarried several times). It would have been very hard to play a pg woman when she had just lost hers. That's my theory.

I watched it when it first started. But the year they went after that huge salary increase, I made a commitment to not watch any more. It just seemed beyond absurd to me that any person was able to earn a million dollars a week.

Yes, I know they were bringing NBC big bucks...yada yada yada.......I just could not comprehend a world where some live on the streets and others get an obscene amount of money. What could anyone do in one week that woud make them worth so much? I just made a choice and stuck by it.
