And I am not just talking about lodging either. I absolute hate staying off property, and routinely turn down a free week at Vacation Village just to stay at the Fort.

But I don't even like leaving to go eat or to go to the grocery store. It totally blows my "being in another world" experience. There is just something special about Disney. I love the landscaping, scenery, street signs, etc. Once you venture out of that little bubble it is like reality slaps you right in the face.

If you can't tell I am jonesing for the Fort. October can't get here soon enough.

We (saying we includes my whole family not just the DW) all agree with you. Me and the DW rarely leave Disney property. We bring everything. I don't even want to go to wal-mart for beer or diet coke. We go to wal-mart and the grocery store every week so I don't want to go there on vacation. If I cant find what I need at the Meadows then I don't need it. (well we may need it but I wont be happy about going to get it:mad:)

When camping at the Fort, I do make one Wal-Mart run after setting up. Mainly cause of the weight. Just no need to haul a bunch of stuff 700 miles. Also sales tax down there is 6.5%. Ours is 8%. Every little bit helps!!! After that is over, I park my truck out in overflow and try not to visit it until it's time to load it back up again.

Umm, you can go off property after you check in? I thought the real world goes away somewhere once you pass through entrance and does not return until you are dragged kicking and screaming out the exit.

When we make trips off property we always breathe a great sigh of relief when we drive back under the Welcome to Disney signs. I swear I've heard my DH mumble "There's no place like home....there's no place like home after pulling back into the fort.

Our last DW trip I was so looking forward to just being at the most magical place in the world. I did not want to make a trip to Walmart. So we had brought everything we needed with us;except my clothes.:scared1: My DH had not put them in the car. He is always in charge of packing the car. So I had to make a shopping trip to Walmart and try on enough clothes for a week. It took a couple of hours out of my Disney magic.

We absolutely DO NOT go off property once we etner the pearly gates :yay:

We bring everything we need from home, and we never start our truck again until it's time to drive home. We forget about the real world...that's the whole point of going to The Happiest Place on Earth. We especially love it at the end of the year, December, Christmas, and put all the "bad" stuff of the year behind us. We LOVE this place!

We used to hate going off property but the disney prices are forcing us more and more to eat offsite. Also, we usually make a trip to Publix since it's so close and it's NOT a walmart, ugh. Then we usually go to mass on the weekends we're there. Other than that, we don't leave the fort til that last day , which is hard enough as it is.

I agree I do not like going off property once I get there but somehow I always do!

Donna love your puppies!

Thanks! The golden is now bigger than the cocker spaniel. They are both puppies, cassie the golden is 3 1/2 mos. now and Sandie the cocker is almost 11 mos. They're both great dogs but all PUP!

I am sooo glad other people feel this way. When friends ask if I have ever been to Universal -- I look at them like they are from another planet. Once I am on property, you couldn't pry me away with a crowbar.

Count me as one of those weirdos that likes to explore everything possible so yes I DO sneak past Mickey and Minnie's gates quite a bit. We go outlet shopping, eat a few meals and buy a few souveniers offsite. I also like to drive around in the boondocks and try to get lost. I think I have driven to the most remote outskirts of Disney property possible just to see whats going on behind the scenes. Sort of like TCD without the photos.:cool1:

We started to stray the last two times we were there. Mostly to eat out. Crab Shack is great and cheaper then eating on Disney. We eat about 2-3 meals off property. I know...I am a rebel.;);)

Yupper I hate leaving the property once I'm there. A few times we have stayed at villas off property which was also fun, but a different experience. Disney is my happy place and I try to leave all the problems, worries and junk outside that gate. I try and get to Disney a couple times a year. Whether we fly, drive, or tow to the Fort once we are there it's my little piece of heaven:cloud9:. I want every minute of magic I can get :wizard:.

I agree completely! We are DVC'rs so we tow to the Fort and DVC at least a couple-three times a year. This year 4x :) Our little slice of heaven.:woohoo:

I am so glad that I am not alone! I hate to leave Disney property until the very last day. As far as I'm concerned there is nothing outside of Disney. This summer I was forced to go to Orlando with a friend and we spent most of the trip off property and I almost cried when we walked past the resort bus stop at MK and got on the ferry boat back to the parking lot to leave  She thinks I'm crazy, turns out I am just plain normal...and maybe a bit obsessed :confused3

Well I love Florida so do venture off property.

There are vacations I stay the full 8 days on property but other times do go and enjoy Florida and stay elsewhere in Orlando or Daytona or other FL city.

I hate to say it, but we also venture off property, usually for Mickey things for my daughter and to grab a bite to eat to beat the Disney prices. Last time we forgot to pack a few things we needed so it was off to Walmart. We actually did not find Walmart but found a crappy looking Kmart near I drive. I believe it was on Turkey lake rd. We found the best Disney souviners dirt cheap and were actually disney tagged products (ex:18" Stuffed mickey mouse for $8 WOW). Sometimes it's worth to venture out even though I hate to leave the fort

Agree -- we hate going off, too, but our last trip found us going out for food runs. Actually, we hit 7-Elevens for slurpees, too, since a) they're way cheaper than anything similar on property and b) there are no 7-Elevens within hundreds of miles of us at home and we gotta get a fix.

We'll also go off-property to eat (but rarely, since we usually eat at the campsite), and last trip I had to go off to get some free wi-fi, since it was a "working" vacay for me.

...that said, we don't *enjoy* leaving the magic one bit!
