Does anyone else in the Patterson Apartment have this problem?

Ever since my roommates and I moved into our apartment on Monday, we found like a couple dozen cockroaches in our room.

Our first night we were there, we found like 5 babies when we had it. It was like 2:30 in the morning when we walked up to security saying that we want something done. They said that they'll put it for pest control and they would show up between 8 and 10 that day. They never showed up so we called the front desk and they said that there was never a report logged in and they'll be up in a little while. So I went out for a couple hours and when I came back, one of my room mate said they killed a regular sized one and pest control never came, so we called the front desk around 3:30 and they said that pest control would show up before 5. They showed up, right at 5. They sprayed the area.

Our room is clean, like we clean up still water, we take out our garbage everyday, and we don't leave food out. Also, I don't think that cockroaches don't show up within 12 hours of us showing up if they weren't there before.

Yesterday, my roommate woke up, turned on the kitchen light and say 2 cockroaches on the counter, moving. And the same thing happened last night as the first night. This morning, I woke up, turned on the kitchen light and saw a HUGE cockroach on the counter with 2 little ones. They scattered as the lighter went on.

I've asked others and they never have this problem. Has anyone else gone through this? What does Disney do?

first i don't live in Florida so i cant say that it has happened to me. When I started to read your post i was going to say that its Florida so cockroaches are everywhere but that seems excessive! So many I would be freaking out and I wouldn't stay there any more! i hope they can resolve the problem for you!

I live in Patterson the 1st floor in building 14 and I haven't seen any bugs so far besides like an ant (which obviously isn't something to worry about)...what building are you in? You should ask other people who live on the same floor as you in your building if they are having an issue

Ask them to treat the entire apartment. They may have spot treated, but the thing is if they're originating from another area the issue will recur.

I also recommend picking up some Raid, the long-lasting variety (comes in a blue can, has a little spray straw attachment). It keeps pests away for about six months. While you probably shouldn't be having to pay to solve the issue, it's relatively inexpensive and will work great. Treat the baseboards around the apartment and any other possible problem areas.

Well, I will say that I had a problem in Chatham with bugs. They weren't roaches (more like these weird sand flea things) and they are AWFUL at doing anything.

The sad thing with roaches is that you may have them, but it's not your fault. Most likely you aren't the only one who has them and your whole building does. They travel through pipes a lot, so maybe for the time being you could keep your drain closed when not using sinks or the bathtubs.

The only way they actually start doing something about it is if you are a pest yourself to the front desk. I know, it is sad you have to do this and I hate being annoying, but it is the only way things get done. They always show up days later or at the end of the work day. I couldn't sleep in my bed because it was covered in these bugs, yet they still took their time.

If they don't listen, you'll have to go pick up some cockroach killer. The spray and maybe some traps. I would probably be freaking out if I were you. I HATE BUGS! The pretty much other way for them to be killed is if an actual exterminator comes and treats the place. I have no idea what this "chemical" is that they spray, but I doubt it even does anything besides kill spiders and ants. I'm pretty sure real heavy pesticides usage doesn't allow you to just spray all over the carpet and walk all over it seconds later..

Good luck! What building are you in, by the way?

I'm in building 14, 3rd floor. I thought that its kind of weird that a 3rd floor room has so many cockroaches. Like, if there has been cockroaches, it would have been a few, not a couple dozen.

I live with a bunch of girls so we all freak out when we see them, but we manage to kill them

I am also in building 14, its weird that you don't have them but we do

Price Management at times can be extremelly lazy about taking care of pests. Price Management will spray bug killing chemicals in your apartment, but not much else.

So-just like any other situation of living on your own, it's mostly up to you to take care of it. Get some roach killing traps, set them in some areas, and let that take care of them. It's not the fanciest, or coolest thing, but you gotta do what you gotta do....

Oh gosh! A friend of mine recently moved down there and apparently she's been having roach problems! I don't know what apartment complex she's in, but it's probably the same one.

I don't have any advice, but try to call maintenance and have them do the whole apartment. Even if you might have to stay someplace like a hotel or something for a few days it would be worth it, because that is just sick.

Did this problem ever get resolved? Has anyone else in patterson had this issue?

Palmetto bugs :D We call them Palmetto bugs down here.

Raid kills them. there are traps you can get. They're part of Florida and not always a sign of cleaniness.

Years ago when we lived in an apartment they were going to spray the whole building but I didn't want the chemicals in our apartment. We were told that you have to treat an entire building for roaches. If you just treat one or two apartments they leave there and just go on to the next one. So they said we'd end up with everyone's roaches if we didn't spray. So that could be why some apartments in a building have them but not all.
